Living Arrows 2015 Week 49

Living Arrows – Week 49

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” – Khalil Gibran

The saying “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” has never been more true this weekend as we’ve had a wonderful few days. On Friday, we had our Christmas tree delivered from Pines and Needles so we spent the afternoon decorating it and getting the house all festive looking.

On Saturday we enjoyed Breakfast with Father Christmas at our local garden centre and then came home to watch Christmas films and snuggle in the house against the wind and rain. It was a lovely afternoon introducing Olly to films from our childhood and watching new ones. He loved watching Hook with Robin Williams as Peter Pan, so lovely to watch him sit still and watch in awe at the action on the television.

On Sunday, it was one of our favourite pre-Christmas activities where all of my hubby’s side of our family gets together to meet up for a family meal at a lovely restaurant. There’s over 30 of us all together and it’s so lovely to see everyone as we don’t get the chance to see each other very often throughout the year.

Olly was quite shy to begin with but as soon as we got out some of his familiar toys, he relaxed a little and was more open to the family talking to him. It was a chance for all the smaller children to play with each other and it’s lovely to sit with our aunts, uncles and cousins and have a good catch up.

Olly had a wonderful afternoon seeing his Uncles and the rest of the family. He was given a couple of presents to open at the table which he opened so carefully. I cannot wait to see his face when he sees presents under the tree on Christmas Day knowing that Father Christmas has been.

It most definitely is the most wonderful time of year. Seeing Olly’s face light up with all the decorations, the twinkly lights and Christmas cards is just brilliant. Having children at Christmas is just magical!
