When it comes to Christmas decorations for the home, I absolutely love them. I love to get all the decorations down from the loft and make an afternoon of it with the Christmas tunes on in the background and a glass of warm mulled wine to aid the decorating process. I love the colours that are associated with Christmas; shades of forest green and postbox red. They really do help make the house look festive and I love the look of using these two colours together.
This year as we’re having a real Christmas tree, I wanted to use the traditional Christmas colours on the tree and around the house. We don’t have many traditional coloured decorations as in previous years we’ve had quite a contemporary look on our artificial Christmas tree with various shades of teal, purple and black decorations adorning the tree.
I’ve been looking to add to our collection of Christmas home accessories and decoration and have found some wonderful things in the shops in just the right colours for this years colour scheme. It seems retailers are spoiling us this year with the amount of wonderful decorations available.
Set of 6 Alpine baubles £8 from Next / Reindeer doorstop £9.60 from BHS / Nordica Heart Grey Cushion £19 from Fishpools / Felt Christmas Bunting £10 from Next / Festive bauble wreath £29.99 from Amazon
I absolutely adore the baubles. They’re Alpine inspired and would look wonderful hanging on the tree. I’m sure Olly will love hanging these this year. The reindeer is Olly’s choice. We use a lot of doorstops in our house to stop the doors banging and this little fella is just adorable. As regular readers will know I’m a big bunting fan and will be hanging this bunting above the fireplace in the lounge. I love the colours and although we probably won’t get any snow this year, it’s lovely to see a little bit of the white stuff in the decorations. I really like this Nordica cushion. I love the stitching on the front and again, the colours work really well for our colour scheme. Finally, the fabulous festive bauble wreath has been on my wishlist for quite a while. I actually want to make one of my own to keep and pass on to Olly when he’s older but until I find myself with a free weekend to do it, I’ll have to buy one instead.
What colours are you picking this year for your festive home? Are you a traditional colour scheme fan or do you love something different?
Thanks to Fishpools for partnering with me on this post.
