Living Arrows 2015 – Week 43

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” – Khalil Gibran

It has been a very big weekend for us in the Shilton household. It was time for Little Mr’s first ever sleepover at his Aunty’s house without his Mummy and Daddy. We had planned to redecorate his bedroom over the first weekend of the school holidays (hello half term!) and he had got very excited at the mere suggestion of a sleepover so we embraced his enthusiasm and he enjoyed his first ever sleepover.

When we first decorated Little Mr’s bedroom, it was perfect for a newborn. It was a beautiful lemon colour with Mama and Papa’s Whirligig themed borders and wallpaper. I loved the birdy wallpaper so I’m definitely feeling sad about steaming that off. Little Mr will be 3 in February so we decided to redecorate his room with a more grown up feel to it. It’s a lovely pastel green colour and we’re using Emma Bridgewater’s Men at Work design for his bedding, curtains and accessories. Once it’s finished I’ll do a little room tour but there’s still a bit more to do with curtains, cushions, bunting and lampshades to make.

This weekend also happened to coincide with the clocks going back so my Sister drew the short straw with an early get up and hubby and I enjoyed a full eight hours sleep. Wow!

We went over to pick up Little Mr from my Sisters and as she lives just up the road from Cannock Chase, which is one of my most favourite places to visit, we took advantage of the sunshine.

We took our nephew with us for a few hours and we all enjoyed exploring the woods, looking for squirrels, finding the Gruffalo and playing on the adventure playground.

We had a very successful weekend. Little Mr loved sleeping at his Aunty’s house and apparently was a good boy and slept well through the night. I was worried he would keep my Sister awake at silly o’clock in the morning but I guess all the excitement and the playing they did for the 8 hours before bedtime did the trick!

Such beautiful photos of him. I forget how grown up he is, definitely perfect timing for a new bedroom! x

Glad the sleepover went well and you had a productive “break”. He looks like he is loving seeing the Gruffalo!

Gorgeous photos. A friend and I always debated Cannock Chase for a meet up but we tend to do Trentham Estate instead.
