Review: Aquadoodle Super Colour Deluxe

Little Mr loves to get creative and is happiest when he’s sitting at the table or lying on the floor with his colouring book and his huge pencil case full of crayons. He also loves to play with paint but I’m always reluctant to let him play with that as we all know how messy it can get. When Tomy offered to send Little Mr the Aquadoodle Super Colour Deluxe, I was intrigued to find out how it would hold his attention and what fun he would have with it.

The Aquadoodle Super Colour Deluxe is a mess free drawing mat that works with a water filled pen and brush. When the water filled pen ‘draws’ on the mat, the water is transferred onto the mat to reveal the child’s drawing in wonderful colour. The Aquadoodle mat starts off as white in colour when dry and then changes to colourful waves of blue, pink, yellow and orange when wet.

What’s included?

Within the box, you get the Aquadoodle mat, the pen (to fill with water), 3 stampers, a paintbrush and water sponge pad, a no-spill water container.

What Little Mr thought

As soon as we got the Aquadoodle mat and accessories out of the box, Little Mr was really excited to have a play with it. He has played with an Aquadoodle mat previously so knew what to do and how to draw on the mat. He loved the colours showing through on the mat as he doodled over the mat.

The set includes 3 stampers which show friendly little characters when stamped onto the water sponge pad and then onto the mat. Little Mr loved stamping the characters and was amazed every time he managed to carefully stamp the image onto the mat.

The set also includes a paintbrush and a no-spill water container which he had great fun playing with. Of course, he wanted to paint the whole of the mat leaving no white spaces at all. He was so proud of himself.

What Mama thought

I have really enjoyed watching Little Mr playing with the Aquadoodle mat and accessories. He’s had great fun doodling shapes and practicing letters of the alphabet and writing numbers. I love that the whole activity is mess free and it’s portable so you can pack it away and take it anywhere with you. The mat is a very good size so it’s perfect for little ones to have a big open space to get creative on especially with the colours coming through when it’s doodled on.

What we didn’t like

The only thing we didn’t like about the mat was it took quite a while to dry off once it had been doodled on. Everything else was great and we really enjoyed playing with it.

The Aquadoodle Super Colour Deluxe is currently priced at £18.75 with Tesco and I think it’s great value for money. The mat and accessories can be used over and over again so you’ll definitely get your monies worth in use over the years.

We had a plain one that was great for a while but once drawn on you had to wait for it to dry before drawing again! Great review #triedtested

Aquadoodle mats are so much fun and I love the mess-free aspect too! My two love to colour in the whole mat as well. They are great, but I agree that they do take a little too long to dry out.

We had something similar when Tigger was younger and it was played with quite a lot, I love that it is a never ending piece of paper ready for them to enjoy #ToyTuesday

We have never had an aquadoodle, but this looks perfect for Viggo who loves to paint, but I don’t love the mess!
