Breakfast in our house during the week is one of the meals where we all eat in different places; I will eat my breakfast at my desk in the workplace, my hubby will eat something on the way to work or in his classroom first thing and Little Mr will eat breakfast with his Grandparents. It’s a meal we all like to make sure we have albeit a little rushed and we don’t even have the school run to contend with yet!
McVities know how busy families are so have launched their brand new breakfast range which includes Oaty Breaks, Fruit and Oat Bakes and Porridge Oat Biscuits. We were sent a selection of the new range to try out and they’ve gone down surprisingly well.
Porridge Oats and Honey Biscuits / Porridge Oats and Red Berry Biscuits
These biscuits come in packets of 4 biscuits and are really filling. The flavours work well and the oaty warmness comes through when eating them. Little Mr will happily eat a biscuit as a snack mid-morning but hubby has enjoyed these on the way into work in the car.
The biscuits come in two flavours; Porridge Oats and Honey and Porridge Oats and Red Berry. Our favourite has to be the Oats and Honey as they have a subtle sweetness which we enjoyed first thing.
Oaty Breaks; Porridge Oats & Golden Syrup and Porridge Oats, Raisin and Cinnamon
These come in packets of 2 fingers and are a great source of fibre. The fingers are packed with energy releasing B vitamins, vitamin D and iron which combined helps to keep you fuller for longer.
Hubby has been nibbling on these breakfast fingers first thing and has quite enjoyed them. He’s not sure whether 2 fingers are enough to keep him satisfied until lunchtime but perhaps 3 fingers in a packet would do the job.
I have sampled these only once (they’re not ideal on my diet but that’s due to my own breakfast preference) but really enjoyed them. I like how they’re easy to hold for breakfast on the go and would be great for little ones who can be fussy about their breakfasts.
Fruit and Oat Bakes; Oats & Apple and Oats & Blueberries
These slices are very moreish. They come in packets of 2 slices and combine wheatmeal with oats and a fruity filling of either apple or blueberries. We prefer the blueberry flavoured bakes as they’re a little sweeter.
Again as with the other Breakfast biscuits, these oat bakes are a great size for breakfast on the go, popping in a lunchbox for snacks or would be great with a cup of tea at elevenses.
The McVities Breakfast Fruit and Oat Bakes are priced at £1.99 for 5 packs of 2 slices
The McVities Breakfast Oaty Breaks are priced at £2.29 for 6 packs of 2 fingers
The McVities Breakfast Biscuits are priced at £2.29 for 6 packs of 4 biscuits
We did enjoy the new breakfast range of biscuits from McVities and Little Mr has enjoyed them as a snack throughout the day. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to eat as many as I would have liked as they aren’t suitable for my diet however hubby has enjoyed them for breakfast on the go and they’re a great snack to keep in the cupboard to fill hungry tums.
