The elation I felt last week when I lost half a pound was ridiculous. I’ve never been so happy to lose so little weight. The scales were kind to me post BritmumsLive and although I had a few extra treats over the weekend (hello Pizza Express and Halloumi burger and chips!) I was relatively good. You can see more food from the weekend here.
Fast forward to this week and I thought I had stayed on plan as intended. I had great breakfasts, spot on lunches and well planned dinners, so what happened in between? You know the saying “Fridge pickers wear bigger knickers!”, well yes they do!
I’m guilty of pinching a little bit here and a little bit there. A corner of Little Mr’s hot white buttered toast, a square of his full fat cheddar pizza, a handful of chippy chips and all those syns add up. I wasn’t having a great deal but consistently they do add up and if you’re not counting them, they’re eventually going to come back and bite you on the bum. This week I gained 1.5lb and although I don’t think it was very well deserved, it’s taught me that I can’t be complacent on the plan and I need to follow it properly or not at all. Given that I still have at least 5 stone to shed before I’m considered ‘healthy’ the latter is not an option!
So, I’m two days into my 47th week on the Slimming World plan and it’s back to basics for me. I’ve been writing everything down in a food diary, making sure I’m counting my syns properly, getting my speed foods in and drinking lots and lots of water. I’ve ‘only‘ got 5.5lb until I can bag that shiny 5 stone certificate and I’d love to get that before the end of July.
This weekend we’re away in Yorkshire so I’ve got to be on my best behaviour, we’ll be having hotel breakfasts and dinner out at a restaurant or two so I need to pick wisely and get plenty of body magic* (*nothing filthy, it’s the term SW use for exercise!) in.
For the first time in forever, I wore a Summer dress to work this week. It was the hottest day of the year and I couldn’t sit at my desk with my work trousers on, I just couldn’t do it so I donned my pretty Joe Browns dress and bravely wore it for work. Ridiculous really as all my work friends wear dresses regularly but I guess it’s a big thing for me to do that and put my legs out there uncovered!
Imagine how hot and bothered I would have been 47 weeks ago, 4 stone 8.5lb heavier and 2 dress sizes bigger? I’ve never been so glad that I stepped foot into that SW group nearly a year ago.
And just because all my friends were extra nice to me, here I am beaming that I’ve come so far. And my journey is far from over, there’s lots more adventure to have!
