Living Arrows – Week 22

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

I do love a lazy weekend with no plans. We get chance to do things we haven’t had chance to do and this weekend has been just that. We didn’t have any commitments, no family to see or errands to do apart from the food shopping so it was nice to embrace the rare bit of sunshine we had and get outside and enjoy a local beauty spot.

We drove up the A38 to Barton Marina which is about half an hours drive from our home to have a look around and get some fresh air in our lungs. We took Little Mr’s toddlebike with us which in hindsight was probably a bit silly but he loved riding his bike along the waters edge giving us near heart failure every time he got a little bit too close.

Whilst we were there we stumbled upon The Mug Tug which is a narrowboat fully customised for little ones to paint and play. What a fab idea! I asked about availability and the lady inside kindly managed to squeeze us in so we could make a quick Fathers Day gift for hubby. Little Mr had his hands painted and then his handprint was transferred onto a mug. I’ll share the outcome when we get it back from being fired and glazed. Although Little Mr was a little reluctant to join in, once Mama had her hands painted he wanted to join in the fun and happily let the lady paint his hand.

We then had a lovely walk around the marina showing Little Mr the narrowboats and saying hello to the ducks. It was so nice to be outside for a while.

We stopped at the cafe for a quick cup of tea and Little Mr had an ice cream (which he had 4 licks of then decided he didn’t want it and gave it to hubby!) and of course he slept all the way home which made for a rather late bedtime but it was nice just to have some fun together and enjoy the sunshine so we didn’t mind too much!

I really enjoy having days where the plan is, no plan. We had our first weekend like this in a long time, it was lovely. Sounds like the three of you had a great day, and what a bonus to have the sun shinning! Lovely photos :) #LivingArrows

So nice being down by the canal, but I know what you mean being worried about children by it.

    Some gorgeous photos here.
