Living Arrows 2015 – Week 20
Weekends are for family time. Weekends are for having fun with Mummy and Daddy. Weekends are for having long lazy days, enjoying time outside playing and learning about new things.
Little Mr loves going to the park. He loves having the freedom to explore the surroundings and ‘having a go’ on the activities in the park. When he ‘has a go’ he usually means climbing up to the top of the climbing frame and assessing the height of the slide and then clambering back down again as he doesn’t want to go down the slide. He’s not much of a slide fan. Give him a ladder to climb or a bridge to run over and he’s happy but slides and swings for that matter, he doesn’t like.
We recently visited Sandwell Valley Adventure Park and loved spending an hour exploring the wooden activities. My personal favourite was the zip wire which I had a whizz down the hill on. Four stone ago, I wouldn’t have done it in fear of breaking the wire but I was feeling lucky so took the tyre all the way to the top and then enjoyed the ride back down. Little Mr thought I was hilarious but didn’t let me have another go, spoil sport!
There was a sandpit with a wooden climbing frame and Little Mr absolutely adored it. He loves playing in the sand and climbing up the frame and having an explore. He just loves having the freedom and using his independence which is really lovely to watch.
He carried this small handful of sand from underneath the climbing frame and then clambered up one handed as not to drop any grains of sand. He was so proud of himself.
Ha, I love his expression on this photograph
The park had some musical activities to play with too and Little Mr loved playing with the pipes. It made such a loud and unruly sound, I’m sure the other parents were glaring at us as they had managed to keep their children away from it and we came bounding in and made a noise!
My little explorer spotted a bridge over the stream on the way back to the car park and of course, had to climb up and walk over it. It was a bit wobbly but with Daddy’s moral support behind him, he mastered it.
I really love spending time with Little Mr watching him explore and discover new things. Although he can be shy and reserved sometimes, he is mostly independent and confident and this makes me smile so much. It’s amazing to see his personality in action.
