A few weeks ago Little Mr and I had the pleasure of visiting the team behind one of the biggest names in the stationery world, Maped Helix. I’m a bit of a stationery geek and love to play around with stationery so I was more than a little excited to get hands on and find out more about the brand ahead of National Stationery Week, 27th April 2015 – 3rd May 2015 which they are proudly sponsoring.
Maped bought the Helix brand in 2012 and they have since grown in strength with their four product ranges which include Helix Education, Helix Oxford, Maped and Maped Office. You will no doubt be familiar with Helix Oxford as they are the creators of the legendary Maths Sets which would have been (and still are used) in classrooms around the UK for decades.
It was great to see a huge range of colourful stationery on the tables and Little Mr couldn’t wait to get straight in and start colouring in. He was amazed at the amount of pencils, crayons and felt tips that were available for him to try and I’ve got to say I was pretty impressed too.
Maped Helix believe that stationery should be fashionable yet functional. All their products are tested hundreds of times to ensure quality and it’s good to know they also test competitors’ products to make sure their own range of products can stand up to the competition.
The range of products we were most taken with was the Color’Peps range of colouring in products. They’re absolutely awesome. Bright colours and so easy to use.
How fab is this award winning Color’Peps Jungle Innovation? A felt tip holder that stands up perfectly on a table with integrated caps. The holder is robust so is easily transported and features 12 washable bright and funky colours. It’s good to know the pens have been tested with their caps off and can withstand 3 to 4 days of drying out time. Little Mr shouted ‘wow’ across the table as soon as he saw it which pleased the team. Of course, later in the day Little Mr wanted to use it as a hat!
One of the best features that Maped Helix have is that all their pencils are ergonomic. They’re triangular shaped which makes it easier for little hands to hold them.
We have recently introduced Little Mr into the colourful world of stationery and he loves to sit down and colour in as much as I do. I love how something so simple can set imaginations run wild and a blank piece of paper can be transformed. We’ve had such fun with our Color’Peps crayons, felt tips and pencils that we don’t go anywhere without them. We take the Color’Peps Flex Box with us in Little Mr’s bag as coloured pencils are kept safe in their accordion style pot which can be used as a container for the pencils when in use.
I was also interested in hearing about their scissors range especially the child-friendly range which is intended for use from aged 2+ and doesn’t cut hair! The scissors are quite blunt but they will cut paper which is quite amazing.
We were very kindly given a huge bag of Maped Helix goodies to take home and play with so watch the Instagram feed for photos of how we’re getting on using them and how creative Little Mr is becoming as he explores my love of stationery.
Do you encourage your children to draw and colour in? Do you love stationery? Watch out for Maped Helix over the next few weeks as we get excited about National Stationery Week.
Disclaimer: We were given a huge bag of goodies at the event which are fabulous, thank you Maped Helix.
