Little Mr is at that age where he is taking everything in. He’s learning new words and picking up new phrases, he’s like a little sponge sucking up every bit of knowledge. We were recently sent the Sooty ABC – Learn The Alphabet to review and it’s been quite a hit.
I remember watching Sooty and his friends Sweep and Soo when I was younger so it was quite a trip down memory lane when I popped the DVD in the DVD player and settled down to watch it as Little Mr watched on.
This special episode of Sooty is a fantastic way of introducing little ones to the alphabet. There’s lots of fun and mayhem with a group trip to Wookey Hole Caves where the friends learn the alphabet on their adventure. We had to watch the DVD in three parts as Little Mr did lose concentration after a while but I have to remember he’s only two and will be picking up snippets here and there as it’s playing on the television.
All the way through the episode, which supports the Early Years Curriculum, Sooty, Sweep, Soo and Richard engage viewers with the alphabet right from ‘A is for Apple’ through to ‘Z is for Zoo’. Little Mr has already picked up the letter A and can recognise the letter and the sound so it’s definitely helping him learn the basics of the alphabet.
This DVD would make a fantastic gift for Easter and also comes with a printed alphabet poster. There are also extras on the DVD including The Swimming Lesson, The Farm and Beach Patrol with printable worksheets to enhance the learning experience.
Sooty ABC – Learn the Alphabet is on sale now from Amazon at a bargain price of just £5 (prices checked on 15th March 2015)
