Most of my friends and loyal blog readers will know that I’m not a dress kind of girl. I love the idea of wearing a dress and looking all pretty and feminine but in reality I am not at all comfortable and feel a bit silly. With my recent weightloss, I’ve been feeling strangely more confident with my clothes so when the team at Curvety got in touch recently to see if I wanted to review one of their latest dresses, I stepped out of my comfort zone and picked a dress.
After looking on the Curvety website, which has a fantastic range of stunningly beautiful dresses for plus size ladies, I narrowed my choice down to three. I liked the Lindsey Hibiscus Cove dress which would be perfect for a Summer wedding paired with heels and a oversized fascinator. I really loved the Boudoir Lace Dress in Piercing Plum but figured it would probably live in my wardrobe the amount of times I don’t get to go out. My final choice was the Kiyonna Wrap Dress in cobolt blue as I adored the colour.
I made my decision and opted for the Kiyonna Wrap Dress in a stunning bold blue colour which had elbow length sleeves (to cover bingo wings) and wrapped under the bust to maximise cleavage.
When the dress arrived, it was lots more stretchy than I thought it would be. It’s made from polyester and spandex so is rather forgiving on curves. I love the length of the sleeves and the neckline on the dress.
Unfortunately, I don’t think the dress fits me very well as I think you need a fuller bust to make the wrapped feature of the dress work better. I don’t have any cleavage and think the dress would suit someone with a smaller back and more up front. The ties wrap around the waist and would be perfect if I didn’t have unwanted lumps and bumps.
The dress is a lovely length and I think it would look great with matching shoes and a clutch bag, perfect for a wedding or a day out at the races. If I wear this dress again I’ll definitely wear it with some ‘hold everything in pants‘ to boost my confidence a little more. Overall it’s a beautiful dress and I would love to wear it again.
The Kiyonna Essential Wrap Dress is priced at £97 and available from Curvety.
If I’m entirely honest, I don’t think I would buy this dress at such a price. It’s a beautiful dress and such lovely quality but I just don’t have the budget to spend that amount on a dress. Having said that if I wanted a beautiful designer dress for an important or special occasion I would look on the Curvety website for inspiration and would consider an outfit from there.
