Living Arrows – Week 10
Over the weekend we have managed to take full advantage of the Spring sunshine. On Friday, we wanted to blow the cobwebs away from a nasty germ ridden week and get our lungs full of fresh air. We went to our local country park with the dog and Little Mr took one of his birthday presents, a Thomas the Tank Engine trike, that has only ever been rode on indoors until now.
It was cold but dry day so perfect for walking the dog over the valley and letting Little Mr toddle off on his trike getting used to the way it moved and learning how to steer it properly.
He was so funny though as I did try and push him but he was so determined to do it himself he wouldn’t let me push it.
Of course, he was only on it for ten minutes before he go bored and made me push it around the park as well as walk the dog. We wandered around the park and Little Mr spotted some sheep in the next field. He loves sheep after watching a cartoon of Shaun the Sheep recently so made a mad dash to go and say Hello to the Sheep. I love how interested in animals he is. It’s lovely to see and watch him try and interact with them.
He also loves walking with the dog in the open space. We don’t get chance to do much dog walking with Little Mr in the week as we live in a built up area and it’s not at all safe to let him hold the lead. My heart wouldn’t take it. One or both of them would be in the road and it doesn’t bear thinking about.
After an hour, we had walked around the path a few times and Little Mr was getting hungry so I challenged him to a race back to the car. He wanted to have another go on his trike and he jumped in the seat and was using his legs to push himself along. I tried again to push him but I think I ended up frustrating him as I wasn’t much help at all. He hasn’t mastered the pedals yet but there’s plenty of time for that.
Another fabulous morning with my Little Mr spending time with each other and learning new things. He learnt how to push himself along faster and I learnt you can’t really push these trikes in a straight line with a toddler at the handlebar!
