Baking brownies | Show your #bakeface

I haven’t baked in such a long time so when Billingtons asked me if I wanted to bake some brownies for the family as part of their new competition, I hastily agreed. Both my hubby and Little Mr love brownies but with my diet in mind, I haven’t made any to keep my eyes and hands away from the temptation but loved the idea of the bakeface competition and had to get involved.

Billingtons sent us a fantastic hamper full of goodies including some Billingtons dark muscovado sugar, some cooking chocolate, flour, cherries, an apron and some baking utensils so that I could make some chocolate brownies for the family.

All was going well and the smell of the Brownie mix was immense. I was so tempted to eat some but made a deal with myself that if I didn’t pinch a fingertip full of mixture I could eat a slither of brownie when they were cooked. The ingredients in the mixture all folded together well and looked fantastic. I lined a baking tray as directed in the recipe and put the mixture in the tray and popped them in the oven for the time allowed.

Now I’m not really sure what happened but as the timer ran out I could smell burning so dashed to the kitchen to see that my brownies had burnt on the top. I was gutted. I took the tray out the oven and lay them to rest on the top before attempting to salvage some of them. I had promised hubby that he could take them into work the following day so hoped they could be rescued.

To hubby’s delight, we were able to rescue most of the brownie and cut them up in to squares for hubby to taste and enjoy.

That’ll be my Bake Off application screwed up then!

Luckily, hubby enjoyed them and took them into work the following day for his team to enjoy. Hope you enjoyed them lads and apologies that they were a little over done!

show us your #bakeface

Billingtons have challenged bakers across the UK to show their #bakeface when they have used Billingtons ingredients to create something yummy. Here’s hubby enjoying the warm, gooey and slightly burnt brownies.
