Review: Birthday Cupcakes from The Little Cupcake Company

bday cupcakes

Last Monday, I celebrated my birthday with a day out at the zoo with my lovely Little Mr. I was supposed to be at work but due to work commitments later in the week, I was able to change my day off and spend my birthday with my favourite small person. The following day, I went back to work and enjoyed birthday treats from my friends at work.

I was actually a little bit spoiled as The Little Cupcake Company had offered to send me some birthday cupcakes to enjoy. What’s a birthday without cupcakes? Of course, I readily agreed and arranged for them to be delivered to my workplace.

The Little Cupcake Company are a bakery completely dedicated to cupcakes. Based in Cambridgeshire, The Little Cupcake Company have a new bricks and mortar shop as well as offering an online delivery facility to cupcakes fans around the UK. How brilliant is that? If you’re not local to Cambridge, you can pop over to their website, drool over all the amazing looking cupcakes and place an order in boxes of 9, 16 or 24.

There’s a variety of cupcakes to choose from; Original collection of classic vanilla sponge decorated cupcakes, chocolate cupcakes made with the finest cocoa and delicious buttercream and themed cupcakes to celebrate special occasions and seasonal occasions.

When the delivery arrived, I couldn’t wait to get into the box. The box of cupcakes was beautifully wrapped in a big pink ribbon and the aroma coming from the box was amazing. I carefully opened the box and my eyes lit up at the sight of such a pretty box of cupcakes.

I was gifted a luxury box of 24 Not So Little cupcakes from the Chocolate collection and wow, they were amazing!

Each of the chocolate cupcakes were beautifully decorated with an array of decorations; fudge pieces, sugar strands, smarties, hundreds and thousands, metallic edible balls. They were beautiful.

My friends at work were delighted that they were able to sample the cupcakes and spent a good few minutes deciding which cupcake to feast upon. I was a little more restrained and made a pact with myself to hold out until after my weigh-in later that evening and enjoy it with a hot cup of tea to celebrate my birthday.

The chocolate cupcakes went down a storm. The sponge was soft, full of flavour and literally melted in the mouth. The chocolate buttercream on top of the cupcake was rich and delicious. Each of my friends who had a cupcake each really enjoyed them and said they were really yummy and very moreish.

I took home a chocolate cupcake decorated with fudge pieces and it was divine. I really enjoyed it and would definitely consider buying more cupcakes from The Little Cupcake Company for a special occasion or a very special treat.
