Half term is over and hubby has gone back to work today. It’s also my birthday today so I’ve been able to swap my day off and spend the day with my Little Mr. We’re off to the zoo so hopefully it’ll be dry and we can have a lovely today together.
This weekend was lovely as I spent it with my family. On Saturday, hubby, Little Mr and I drove over to Wales for a day out and stopped off at Cheshire Oaks on the way home for some dinner. We decided to have a pre-birthday dinner instead of this evening so I enjoyed a very yummy Leggera Pizza Pollo ad Astra and was delighted to find out it was only 21 syns. I’d cut back on my syns throughout the earlier part of the week to compensate a birthday meal so I am really pleased that I could still enjoy a lovely meal and be within my syns allowance.
Yesterday, my Parents, my Sister, Brother-in-law and Nephew all came round for Sunday dinner. Hubby and I made a roast chicken dinner and I was angelic and made myself a Slimming World friendly boozy fruit brulee which was only 2.5 syns. The rest of the family enjoyed a chocolate gateaux and cream but I just didn’t fancy it. I really don’t want to mess up my good work by eating something silly so I was pleased with the choices I made and hopefully they’ll show on the scales tomorrow night.
We managed to get some meal planning in and as today is Meal Planning Monday we’ve planned the following for dinner this week;
Steak, SW chips and roasted vegetables
Chilli con carne (SW recipe)
Pizza topped chicken, savoury rice and roasted vegetables
Speedy chicken and vegetable rice (SW recipe)
Lemon Chicken Curry (SW recipe)
Diet Coke Chicken (SW recipe)
I peeled a huge amount of potatoes yesterday as they were going started to go a bit funny so now the freezer is now well stocked with individual portions of mashed potato for Little Mr’s dinner during the week. I often don’t get time to peel and cook him mash so I’m quite glad I had time yesterday to do some prep for the week (I also cut up the potato for tonight’s chips ready to par-boil and then pop in the oven).
We’re hoping to make double portions this week as our food shop was a bit pricier than usual (that’ll be the steak and the huge chicken we bought for yesterdays roast!) We’ll be able to freeze a couple of portions of curry and the diet coke chicken so that will probably feature in next weeks meal plan.
We’ve also been very good at taking packed lunches to work recently so today I’ve got a salad to take to the zoo with us and Little Mr has some sandwiches. It feels good to be using up the food we already have in the house and we’re saving money too!
What are you eating this week? Do you take your own lunch to work? Would love to hear what other people do!
