Review: Mega Bloks Thomas Mega Table

mega bloks 1

When Little Mr is at home, he will usually want to do one of three things; play with his Mega Bloks and build towers, read a Thomas the Tank Engine book or play with his trains. Little Mr loves trains, his imagination is just brilliant and I love watching him play with them together with all sorts of ‘choo choo’ sounds. Imagine his delight when Mega Bloks sent him the Mega Bloks Thomas Mega Table to play with, he was one happy little boy and over the last couple of weeks, it’s been his most favourite toy to play with.

The first thing I noticed when we unpacked the Mega Bloks Thomas Mega Table was that the bloks were different from the range of Mega Bloks we were used to. Little Mr received several sets of the First Builders Mega Bloks which are the larger bloks, for his first birthday so I was pleased to see the Mega Bloks range has been extended for little ones with Junior Builders as they develop their skills and enhance their learning.

The Mega Bloks Thomas Mega Table is a great size and ideal for toddlers. The table has foldable legs so that the table can be used on the floor or with the table legs erected so toddlers can stand and play at the table. Our only criticism of the table so far is that the legs don’t always snap into place to make the table sturdy. It’s definitely worth checking the table legs are clicked into place before letting little ones play with and on it.

The table has removable building plates with partial tracks on, which can be played with on and off the table but are easily secured onto the table with a clever dial. Once the plates are secured, the Mega Bloks can be used to build up Knapford train station for Thomas the Tank to arrive at.

The set contains 65 colourful pieces complete with stickers to transform the Junior Building bloks into a train station. Once the stickers are applied you can build all sorts of arrangements, the possibilities and fun is endless. The set also contains wheels and Mega Bloks that create Thomas the Tank Engine so you can play with the train on the tracks. We’ve also been using the coloured bloks to help Little Mr learn his colours. We’ve been teaching him yellow, green, blue and white and although he hasn’t grasped them all yet, yellow is a particular favourite.

The Mega Bloks Thomas Mega Table is perfect for storing away Mega Bloks when not in use as there is storage space underneath the building plates (when fitted onto the table). The carry handles on the table make it great for picking it up and moving it around so is practical and can be stored away easily.

What Little Mr thought

Considering that the Mega Bloks Thomas Mega Table has only been played with in the last couple of weeks, it has become a firm favourite. It is his go-to toy of choice and he will happily spend a good half an hour playing with the Mega Bloks and building towers, bridges and stations. It’s really fun to watch him and his imagination come to life through the bloks.

What’s good to know

The set co-ordinates with all other Mega Bloks Junior Builder sets so additional sets can be bought and played with to create larger playsets and really let the imagination run wild. As Christmas is coming up, this would make a fantastic Christmas present and will be enjoyed by all Mega Bloks and Thomas fans.

This looks like a lot of fun, I do like the megabloks trains, how they come apart into blocks instead of being solid plastic. The built in storage is really handy.
