Review: Dolce Gusto Mini Me Coffee Machine

DGMM header

Back in the Summer, I was lucky enough to be sent an exciting package of coffee goodness. I love coffee. I love posh coffee, frothy coffee and flavoured coffee, it’s a drink I enjoy a lot. At home I’m on my own as my hubby only drinks tea so I’ve never been indulgent enough to buy a coffee machine but Dolce Gusto have the answer. The new Dolce Gusto Mini Me is a coffee machine for single serve cups making it perfect for families just like ours.

I’ve been reviewing the Dolce Gusto Mini Me machine for a few months now and I am in love. It is such a fab gadget that anyone who loves a delicious proper coffee will love and use well.

specifications

The Dolce Gusto Mini Me machine is the perfect size to keep on the kitchen worktop. It doesn’t take up much space so it can happily stay on display next to the kettle. With a 0.8 litre water tank you can get quite a few cups out of the one tank of water so you don’t need to keep refilling it all the time when you want a drink. The machine has a 15 bar pump pressure which ensures that the coffee you want to enjoy is perfect. It delivers a frothy coffee in style.

pick a pod

The Mini Me uses Dolce Gusto’s exclusive pods and there’s a huge selection to choose from. My favourites include Latte Macchiato Caramel, Skinny Cappuccino, Choco Caramel and  Skinny Latte. I ordered a selection of my favourite coffee pods from the online store and they were delivered in a matter of days but you can buy selected pods from supermarkets if you can’t wait.

how it works

Once the water tank has been filled up, turn on the machine. The on button will blink red until the water is heated and will then turn green when you’re ready to start making your drink. Choose your coffee and pick out the relevant pods. Some coffees will require two pods (coffee and milk). Select the right amount of water to be used from the ruler on the top of the machine, this will correlate with the packaging so you’ll always know how much water to use per pod. Pop the pod in the holder, place a cup on the tray and move the lever at the back of the machine left or right depending if you want a hot or a cold drink. It produces a lovely drink in just a few minutes and they are really nice.

I have really enjoyed using my Dolce Gusto Mini Me machine and tend to use it in an evening when Little Mr has gone to bed, the housework has been done and I’ve got an hour on the sofa with my favourite television programme and a few syns of chocolate.

Slimming World Friendly

I have been delighted to see that the pods are Slimming World friendly and some of my favourite drinks are low in syns. Some people may forget that certain coffees have syns in them but James over at Daddy Space has produced a handy guide to make sure you stay on plan when using the machine. Just because I’m on a diet doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a frothy coffee or two!
