Last month we managed to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life by spending the week down south in Cornwall. Living in the Midlands, we’re pretty land locked with our nearest beach over an hour and a half away so it’s no wonder that when we’re within a stones throw away of the coast, we always make a special trip to see the sea, get our toes sandy on the beach and take in lung or two of the fresh sea air.
Parkdean Holidays have recently conducted some research (via their online quiz) into the beautiful British landscape and the results are very interesting. One in three who took the quiz, incorrectly guessed that St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall is in fact in the UK, opting to suggest that this stunning landmark was further afield and overseas.
Similarly, one in four incorrectly guessed that the Minack Theatre in Penzance, Cornwall was also in the UK. With views like this from the seats within the amphitheatre, you really don’t need to go anywhere else for unbeatable views and stunning sunsets.
We really can’t wait to take Little Mr on his first ‘proper’ beach holiday. Ideally we’ll stay close to the coast within walking distance to the seaside so we can walk hand in hand down to the beach. Carrying our buckets and spades, towels and our sunglasses, I can’t wait to spend our days building sandcastles, hunting for shells and beach combing for treasure.
On our holiday to Cornwall recently we discovered by chance some fabulous little beaches that would be ideal for days like this. It’s amazing that we really do have some unbeatable coastlines, beautiful beaches and stunning scenery that we didn’t even know about and the Parkdean Holiday quiz results really do prove this.
We’re hoping to get a short week away somewhere around the UK at the end of August and now Little Mr is walking, he’ll enjoy the holidays even more. Are you holidaying in the UK this Summer? Why not discover the hidden beauties of the UK for yourself? You’ll be surprised at what you find!
