Review: Lindam Sure Shut Orto Baby Gate

Ensuring your baby’s safety is probably one of the main concerns of a new parent. I know when Little Mr first started to crawl I knew that I had to have eyes in the back of my head and would need to be one step ahead of him at all times. He just moved so quickly, I didn’t really have time to make sure he was safe, I just knew he had to be.

Lindam are a brand I trust. We have used a couple of their safety products in the past and have been really happy with the level of safety they provide for us. We have a total of four gates in our home to keep both Little Mr and the dog under control; two dog gates and two baby gates; one of which is the Lindam Sure Shut Orto Baby Gate that we have been reviewing for a month or so now.

The Lindam Sure Shut Orto Baby Gate is rather clever. Once the gate is fixed into place and the gate is opened, it has an automatic shutting mechanism that swings back into place ensuring that the gate is shut. It makes a reassuring click once it shuts so you don’t need to turn around to check the gate, you know from the sound of it closing that it is shut correctly (but as a first time Mum, I always check just in case!)

I love that the gate can open two ways; push to close or pull to close depending on the situation (It can open away from baby to let him into a room or open towards baby to give support when learning to stand) The height of the gate is just right, I can reach over and give Little Mr his drink or a biscuit without giving him the hope that he’s able to come through it.

The handle opening of the Lindam Sure Shut Orto Baby Gate is quite easy. It’s designed with busy parents in mind so you can scoop up the little one and open it with one hand. It’s probably one of the easier baby gates I’ve used, just slide back the button with your forefinger and lift up the handle. If you’re not well versed in baby gates, it probably will take you a couple of attempts to perfect the opening but once you’ve done it, it becomes quite natural. The gate has a wider walk through area which is great for Parents who have bigger bottoms like me, or carry little ones through the gate regularly.

The installation instructions recommend you drill and fix the gate into position to the walls which is sound advice if you’re happy with the position of the gate. We haven’t drilled our gate to the wall just yet as we will be moving the gate to our landing upstairs as now Little Mr is walking, we need to make sure he doesn’t walk out of his room and tumble down the stairs.

We are really impressed with the Lindam Sure Shut Orto Baby Gate. It has helped us increase the level of safety we have around our home knowing that Little Mr cannot get up the stairs when our backs are turned or we can keep the dog and little one separate if needs be.

Price

The Lindam Sure Shut Baby Gate retails at £27.99 and can be bought direct from Lindam online.

We have a Lindam one all ready for when we should actually need it. We bought it when it was on offer in Aldi, I think I was about 25 weeks at the point at which we bought it – the husband went a bit mad and we’ve been stock piling nappies as well for months lol. Baby needs to arrive soon and start using the nappies lol.

You can’t go wrong with Lindam gates. They have so many options to fit different spaces too, not sure I’d ever buy a different brand for gates x
