I love my days off with Little Mr. No early alarm call, no rushing around to pack bags or make a packed lunch. Don’t get me wrong there’s definitely no time to lie in as Little Mr usually wakes up between 7:30am and 8am but it always a lot more relaxed.
We like to get as much done in the morning as possible, whether its a trip to the post office to collect a parcel or a walk to the park as after lunch Little Mr likes/has to nap for a good couple of hours. It’s not always been like this. We used to struggle with his naps during the day but since I went back to work , he’s settled himself into a nap routine in the afternoon at his Grandparents.
Little Mr now naps for about two hours straight after lunch and he sleeps best in his cot wearing his sleeping bag and the soft lullabies of Ewan the Dream Sheep playing in his room. Of course, it doesn’t always work out that way as when he’s at my Parents house, he accompanies my Mom on the school run to pick up my nephew so has a lot less sleep.
This weekend we’ve spent all weekend together; we’ve been to visit my Grandad, we went shopping, we ate out as a family and we’ve spent time playing and enjoy Little Mr’s new found freedom as he toddles around the house.
As Little Mr woke up from his nap yesterday afternoon, he gave us the best smiles. I love to see a rested, happy little man. He can get so grouchy and whiny if he doesn’t get his sleep so it’s brilliant to see him giggling and giving us his cheeky smiles. I’ll treasure these moments, they’re the ordinary moments but they’re so precious and I am the luckiest Mama in the world to have him as my Son.
