Last Sunday, we held a circus birthday party for Little Mr’s first birthday. It was a small family get together as we wanted to celebrate even if Little Mr didn’t realise it was his birthday but felt that a huge family party was going a bit over the top. So we invited immediate family over for some sandwiches and a slice of cake.
I decided on a circus theme and ordered a birthday cake from my very talented friend who makes the most amazing cakes in her spare time. When she dropped it round on the night before the party, I absolutely loved it. It was just what I wanted. She also made me 16 chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting and I found some amazing circus cupcake toppers off a well known auction site and placed them on top of the cakes. I really loved the cupcake toppers. Such a small thing can really work.
We were very kindly sent a selection of circus themed party goodies from The Party Company to help the circus theme really come together. We were sent cups, plates, napkins, decorations and balloons all of which belonged to the same circus theme and really looked the part.
I bought several extras to compliment the theme, okay I did get carried away a little bit and spent more than I should of done but I love these little extras; a Ferris Wheel cupcake holder and table decorations.
For the food, I kept it simple and ordered some sandwiches for the adults from Marks and Spencers. I really didn’t want to be stuck in the kitchen making food so opted to make some animal shaped sandwiches for Little Mr and his cousin with party nibbles such as cheese and pineapple, pizza, sausage rolls and cocktail sausages.
We all had a fantastic tea party; the food was yummy, the company was brilliant and Little Mr was spoilt with lots of birthday cards and presents. Lots of happy memories from Little Mr’s first birthday party and I’m looking forward to many more in the future.
Disclaimer: We were sent a range of circus themed products from The Party Company to use for the party which we really liked so a big thank you to them for helping with Little Mr’s first birthday party. They were all well used and helped pull the theme of the party together.
