Planning for Little Mr’s first birthday…

In just over 3 weeks time, my gorgeous baby son will be one years old. It really doesn’t seem that long ago that I was stuck on the sofa like a beached whale watching the box set of The Paradise as the snow fell outside and I began to panic about getting snowed in whilst heavily pregnant. This time last year, I had started my maternity leave and I was enjoying rolling around the bed trying to get comfy with BabyShilts’ bum stuck in my ribs waiting impatiently for his arrival.

Here I am now, ordering his first birthday cake and looking at party tableware so we can celebrate his first birthday in style. We’ve decided to hold a small tea party for him with immediate family only as 1) we can’t afford a big party 2) we have lots of extended family and friends 3) he won’t have a clue what’s going on anyway. There’s plenty of time for big parties and celebrations.

Just like his first Christmas, he won’t really understand what’s going on. He’ll probably enjoy the wrapping paper and envelopes more than the presents and cards but it’ll be his first birthday party and it’s going to be brilliant.

His birthday presents have been ordered and paid for and I’m tempted to get a few more bits and pieces for him (probably pyjamas and socks, the boring practical presents everyone gets!)

I’ve decided to opt for a circus themed birthday tea party and have been happily gathering ideas for his cake, the buffet and decorations scouring pinterest and the internet for ideas. There’s some amazing ideas on there although a few would be wasted on such a small tea party.

I’ve ordered his first birthday cake, bought tableware and have looked into ordering a couple of food platters. This party is going to be fun, i’m not going to be stuck in the kitchen slaving over the sandwiches! I’m really looking forward to seeing it all come together and hopefully I can give Little Mr a wonderful first birthday party that he can look back on and smile at just like I do over the photographs my Parents have got of my first birthday.

I’d highly recommend having a baby with a February birthday, straight after Christmas you don’t get the lull of the new year, I’ve been excitedly planning ahead and it’s all coming together so nicely now.

I’ve also commissioned a very talented friend of mine to make me a gorgeous keepsake for his birthday too and here’s a sneaky peek at him, all to be revealed very soon.
