By day our lounge has turned into a playroom, I’m definitely not complaining, I love it but after Little Mr has gone up to bed, it’s nice to put all the toys away and relax with a cup of tea and put my favourite film on.
When we first bought the house, we had grand ideas that it would be a stepping stone house onto better and bigger things. Nine years, one wedding and one baby later we are still here making do with what we’ve got improving each room inch by inch and on a relatively tiny budget. We do owe the lounge a huge makeover but until we’ve got a spare few thousand quid, the room as it is will just have to be improved with a lick of paint, a new pair of curtains, a couple of throw cushions and some decorative accessories.
When you’re decorating on a budget, using accessories to decorate a blank canvas is probably easier than overhauling the whole room. We decided to go with a nice teal colour to bring the room to life with coloured lampshades, a range of lovely teal shaded cushions in different sizes (ours were from John Lewis), a couple of glass accessories for the mantle piece and a photo frame of hubby and I.
I love the little teal touches in our living room, it’s our little space and when we decide we want a change, all we’ll need to do is re-accessorise.
How often do you redecorate? Do you go for the full overhaul or are you like me and make the small changes with the accessories?
