Review & Giveaway: Dr Brown’s Deluxe Newborn Feeding Gift Set

We were recently sent the Dr Brown’s Deluxe Newborn Feeding Gift Set to try out. As Little Mr is still on four bottles of formula every day, we had plenty of opportunity to put the gift set through it’s paces.

The gift set comes in a box and this is what is included;

dr browns newborn gift set

1 x Microwave Steam Steriliser, 2 x 120ml wide neck feeding bottles, 3 x 240ml wide neck feeding bottles, 5 x level one silicone teats, 2 x extra level two silicone teats, 2 x extra level three silicone teats, 2 x travel caps, 1 x bottle brush, 1 x steriliser tongs.

Microwave Steam Steriliser

The steriliser is a good size and fits 4 standard or 4 wide-neck Dr Brown’s bottles including all their components. With the lid firmly shut the steriliser fitted well into our microwave. I’d not used a microwave steam steriliser before but was surprised at how well it worked and if I’m honest, there was no difference to the bottles we sterilise in another well known brand’s electric steriliser. It only took 6 minutes for the bottles to sterilise with 10 minutes cooling time.

We used the 240ml bottles as Little Mr is now on a larger feed with the level three silicone teats. The bottles are very clever as they include a vent system to help reduce colic and wind in babies. The vent allows air to pass through by passing the milk to the bottom of the bottle and therefore prevents the air getting into the milk and prevents the teat from collapsing.

According to the packaging on the gift set, “Dr Browns fully vented bottles help preserve levels of important nutrients including C, A & E and Lipids” which can only be reassuring that your baby is getting all that he needs.

I really like that within the gift set are all the little extras that you need for the first few weeks of bottle feeding your baby. All the bottles come with the first stage teat, there are a decent pair of tongs for retrieving bottles and components out of the steriliser and you even get a bottle brush. Something I believe you don’t get with other steriliser sets.

The gift set is available to buy in all major retailers and at the time of writing it was on sale with Amazon at £38.42 which in my opinion is good value for money.

We enjoyed using the Dr Brown’s bottles. Little Mr took to them with no problem and had very little trouble with his wind. The teats didn’t collapse and the level three teats seemed to suit him. We would highly recommend this gift set to any new parent as it includes everything you need to bottle feed your baby.
