Review: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star board book

One of the first books I’d like to show you in Little Mr’s Library is the first book that has really caught Little Mr’s eye. It’s a board book called Twinkle Twinkle Little Star by Parragon Books from their Little Learners range.

We’ve been reading to Little Mr for a while now and whilst he looks like he’s paying attention whilst having his bottle, this book really does catch his eye. The board book is a baby friendly size with 4 very easy to press buttons at the top of the book which when pressed light up and each button plays a little sound. Little Mr is particularly fond of the twinkle sound effect and the Owl whit-wooing!

We’re learning our nursery rhymes together at the moment so we like to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star whilst making sure we’ve got the correct words and looking at the colourful illustrations (I thought I knew the words but I’m surprising uneducated when it comes to nursery rhymes, every day’s a school day!) The book definitely encourages interactive play as Little Mr has on a couple of occasions managed to reach out to the book and press the buttons but I’m not sure whether it was coincidence or he was actually reaching out for the buttons on the book. It is an excellent resource for child development as it also encourages hand-eye coordination.

The nursery rhyme is spread out over 10 pages and is a delight to read/sing with Little Mr making it a firm favourite at bed time. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star retails at £5.99 and with the addition of the sounds and lights this book in my opinion is real value for money. The book is aimed at children from 6 months old yet Little Mr has enjoyed this book since we began reading it to him so I’m sure with adult supervision and interaction the book could be read from a 4 months plus!
