This year marks Shilts’ first ‘official’ Fathers Day. I bought him a card from the bump last year but as I was only ‘just’ pregnant it seemed a bit wrong to celebrate an occasion without a child in tow.
I’ve been looking round looking for a special gift for my hubby as we’re quite a sentimental couple, always remembering key dates and making a bit of a fuss of each other (sickening isn’t it?) so this year will be no exception.
I’d written previously about a piece of artwork that I had made for my hubby to commemorate his first official Fathers Day but I wanted to get him an activity of some sort that he would always remember doing as a family especially with Little Mr.
During the Summer holidays, we will be travelling down to London as a family to visit Wembley Stadium. Hubby and I both enjoy football and I’ve got good memories of visiting Wembley with my Dad, Uncle and Aunty to watch West Bromwich Albion play Derby County in the Championship Play Off Final in 2007. Unfortunately we lost the match but that doesn’t detract from the fact we got to Wembley and was able to enjoy the game in such a magnificent stadium. Hubby’s last trip to Wembley was to watch the Division 2 Play Off final on his stag weekend to London so having both been down there to watch a game it will be fantastic to see behind the scenes and perhaps even sit in the home team dug out and have a nosey round the changing rooms. Hubby is a season ticket holder at Walsall Football Club so I’ve got a battle on my hands if I want Little Mr to be a Junior Baggie!
If you’re struggling with what to get your Dad or your partner this Fathers Day, why not consider an experience gift? There’s lots of choice dependant on your budget and there really is something for everyone. For petrol heads, you could give them a driving experience; for the sports fan Dads, you can tour round their favourite cricket ground or football stadium or even spoil them rotten and whisk them away for a short break.
This year is a special one in our household so I know that my hubby will love spending quality Father and Son time with Little Mr. I’ll be on hand to take plenty of photographs of the occasion and will create memories we can cherish for many years to come.
Don’t forget Fathers Day on Sunday 16th June.
Disclaimer: I have been provided with a voucher for an experience of my choice for the purpose of this post.
