Little Mr’s Nursery

Little Mr’s Nursery is my favourite room in our house. When we found out we were expecting a baby last Summer, I decided that we needed to show the spare room some love and completely re-decorate it. I wanted a room perfect for a little baby to grow up in.

We knew we wanted a neutral coloured room even though we had found out I was carrying a little boy and we eventually settled on the Whirligig range from Mamas and Papas. I adore their range. It’s a colourful theme with very cute little characters including a mouse, a tortoise and a frog. The walls are painted in a cheerful lemon with the Whirligig border across the middle and we’ve got a feature wall with a gorgeous lemon bird wallpaper.

We also bought our Nursery furniture from Mamas and Papas as I fell in love with the Rialto range. We got the cot bed, the wardrobe and the changing unit as a package from a seller at The Baby Show. We bought the cot bed so we could get our monies worth and Little Mr could use the bed for years to come.

We set the room up so that there are areas for each activity; changing, feeding and sleeping. All the ‘things’ we needed for that activity are all in the same area so there’s no need to panic over finding a bib or a muslin at silly o’clock in the morning.

We’ve finally put the shelves up for his books and his teddies. Both hubby and I love books and we wanted to make sure that we gave Little Mr a great start by building up a collection of children’s books that he will grow to love over the next few years.

On the walls are two personalised pictures that my family gave us as gifts. My very talented Mum cross stitched a Noah’s Ark sampler featuring his name and weight at birth. My Sister gave us a name meaning print for Little Mr which is lovely and hangs nicely on the wall.

Little Mr’s name is not usual but it’s not the most popular so getting something with his name on is quite difficult unless you get personalised stuff. I came across some fabric letters from Fabric Letter Company and knew I wanted to get some.

You can buy any letters you want in any choice of a selection of lovely fabrics. I went for stripes, dots and checks for Little Mr’s letters and in colours that would suit his room over the next few years. The letters are fantastic. They’re very well made so are a high quality product which is reassuring as you know they’re going to last and stand the test of time. On the back of each letter is a metal fixing so attaching them to the wall is made easy. Alternatively you could stand these up on a shelf but I wanted to show them off on his feature wall. I’m really pleased with them and I think they really compliment his room.

Just to add the service I got from Fabric Letter Company was brilliant. There was great communication, the letters were sent out within 2 weeks of ordering and the packaging for delivery was great. For a personalised service, I’m really impressed.

Little Mr’s room is hopefully a space in which he’s going to love to grow up in. He’s currently still sleeping in our bedroom but it won’t be long until he’s sleeping in his own room now he’s pretty much sleeping through the night. I’m looking forward to spending time with him playing in his room and enjoying the room we’ve created just for him.
