I’d written before that I was quite worried about turning 30, but I really shouldn’t have worried. The birthday celebrations started earlier at work on Friday and my work colleagues really spoiled me. I had a beautiful bouquet of flowers with a balloon, cards and cupcakes made by my friend Laura. Then I was surprised with a gift bag from Links of London. How exciting? They knew I’d got a Links of London charm bracelet so bought me a gorgeous charm. It’s the mum-to-be charm which has a star and little tag on which reads ‘Arrived on’ and ‘Due on’ which I can get engraved once BabyShilts makes an appearance. Absolutely beautiful pressies and I feel really lucky to have such thoughtful work mates.
I left work at lunchtime to go and spend the afternoon at Kiddicare which has recently opened at Merry Hill. I’ll detail that in another post as I had a fab afternoon and bought some lovely bits for BabyShilts.
My Birthday Eve was spent in from of the TV catching up on the weeks Australian Masterchef whilst cross stitching more of my Tatty Teddy Christmas project.
I woke up early on Saturday (I’ve totally lost the ability to sleep, I’m finding it so uncomfortable and wake up at least 3 or 4 times a night now) and hubby wished me a Happy Birthday. He bought me pressies to open in bed and wow, he did really well! I had pressies off BabyShilts (a Cath Kidston crochet teddy bear and cowboy print flannel), pressies off the Dog, well, actually they were pressies for the dog. The tag said ‘Dear Mommy, saw these and thought of me, love and woofs from Mikey’, ha ha! I was opened some Jelly Beans, a tube of Smarties, a pair of slippers, a gorgeous Scrummy Yummy Mummy Boofle Bear, some chocolate, a gorgeous bunch of flowers and a box of baking goodies. Hubby did well as when I was opening the baking goodies, he said it reminded him and off he went to fetch a HUGE box wrapped in giftwrap with a note on to say that this particularly pressie was off himself, my Mom and Dad, Sister and family and my in-laws. How bloody exciting! I opened it up and I was surprised with a super duper food mixer. It’s amazing! I absolutely love it and it’s going to be well used.
Throughout the morning I had a couple of friends and family pop in bringing more flowers, cards and gifts and it was lovely to see them. I’ve really missed my friends I’ve made through WW. We’ve made arrangements to meet up soon so I’m really looking forward to that.
After a lazy afternoon in my pyjamas and a fraught hour and a half deciding what to wear out for the evening, we went to a local pub and met up with my family for a lovely meal. I was surprised with more gifts and a yummy chocolate cake with cake and candles whilst everyone sang Happy Birthday, completely embarrassing but it was all good fun.
I had lots of lovely messages on Facebook and Twitter and I am overwhelmed by how generous everyone has been. Hubby did an absolutely fantastic job of spoiling me on my birthday and I could definitely get used to it (ha, don’t worry babes, i’m joking!) although I’ve said thank you many times, I really do mean it, thank you Greg, I love you very much.. x
I’ll leave you with a picture of the now 30 year old birthday girl posing with BabyShilts bumpage (26+3) xx
