Getting a bit more creative..

Have had a lovely weekend being a bit creative and have started, continued and finished a couple of mini crafty projects. I can’t show you one as it’s for a birthday gift for a family friend and I’ve a sneaky suspicion that she may read my blog so I’ll show you that after her birthday.

The second project is for the Handmade Heart Swap which was hosted by the lovely Mary over at Mary Poppins. Now being a crap crafter that I am, I’m a bit behind with the swap (even though I have received my fabulous goodies from my swap partner – will blog about these later in the week) and hope to get my goodies off to her in the post this weekend. Apologies Claire, I haven’t forgotten about you, I promise to get them out to you as soon as possible.

I’m also starting a handmade birthday pressy for my Mom. She’s asked for a handmade bag and i’m using an Amy Butler design, Cosmo, from her book Style Stitches. I’ve got a couple of weeks until her birthday so have dedicated the evenings this week and the weekend to getting it cut out and begin sewing it up. I hope I can do a good job of it, the fabrics are lovely and I really don’t want to mess it up especially as my Mom is looking forward to receiving a pressy for her birthday.

Finally, I’m trying to start a few things for Christmas (I know it’s only July but before we know it, it’ll be December and i’ll have done naff all) I’ve started a Christmas cross stitch called Snowy Days which I hope to gift to a lovely family member of ours. I’m also trying to use my laptop less of an evening so starting a few projects is a good way to keep me busy.

I’ve been over to my Mom and Dads house this evening (post tooth extraction for a cup of tea and sympathy!) and have to show you this gorgeous quilt that my Mom has recently completed. My Mom has been crafting all her life but has only recently got back into quilting. Apparently it was my fault after I finished my Made in Cherry quilt top (which I still haven’t finished – there’s a theme here isn’t there?!) and she’s managed to start and finish a couple of quilts since then. Isn’t it gorgeous?

I also was able to make a few handmade cards when hubby was away last week and I hate to admit this but I actually really enjoyed spending the time coming up with a couple of designs! I have so much crafty stuff (and not enough space for it all) I’ve decided I need to use it up or sell it so I’m making a few cards here and there to give to family and friends for special occasions.

More pictures to follow (and now I’ve blogged about them, I best get on with them!!)… {sig}
