Loving London

What a fantastic weekend. I went down to stay with my friend who lives in London and it was brilliant. I haven’t seen her for a good 8 months so it was lovely to see her and have a great catch up.

We were able to secure a couple of tickets to see Legally Blonde for the evening performance but before we headed over to the Savoy Theatre, we hit the shops of Covent Garden. A few hours later, we enjoyed Afternoon Tea at Les Deux Salons which was beautifully elegant. We supped on Earl Grey Tea and enjoyed finger sandwiches, a small selection of pastries and a large scone with jam and cream.   Absolutely heavenly and a perfect place to take time out from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We spent a good few hours nosying around Covent Garden, Soho and Leicester Square and I’d ask to visit a Hummingbird Bakery store where I bought us a couple of cupcakes (Red Velvet & Carrot Cake) to enjoy later in the day. We then went over to The Savoy to watch the show. Before we took our seats in the theatre, we went to the Bar for a drink and we spotted someone who’s recently appeared on our TV screens. Reuben Johnson, played Sean in Prisoners Wives. My friend recognised him and we chatted to him for a while about the show and what he’s up to now. He’s working hard between TV work so is helping to pay the bills by working at the Theatre.

We then took our seats and enjoyed the show. It was brilliant. We had fantastic seats in the stalls and was able to see the stage perfectly. Carley Stenson (from Hollyoaks fame) played Elle Woods and she was joined on stage by Ben Freeman (Emmerdale/Grange Hill) playing Warner. All the cast had fantastic voices and it is such a feel good show. We came out smiling and even hung around by the stage door to get more piccies and a signed ticket by Carley herself!

On Sunday, we enjoyed a lazy morning before heading into one of London’s most amazing spaces, Greenwich Park. We had a huge walk around the park taking in the views of the city before walking into Greenwich to visit the market and take sight of Cutty Sark (I am such a tourist).

We enjoyed a nomtastic lunch, hot chopped Lamb wrap with hummus, yoghurt and salad, followed by fresh fruit drizzled in melted chocolate, nuts and marshmallows. It’s a good job we had walked a fair few miles to attempt to walk off the calories, it was a beautifully sunny day so it was a pleasure. I had such a lovely weekend with my friend and I’m so lucky to have such a fab friend that although I don’t see her very often, we both know how special our friendship is and we know that whatever happens in life we’ll always be there for each other.

A fantastic weekend full of giggles and laughter, making memories, sightseeing and eating cake. That’s what I call a good weekend
