Meal Planning Monday 03.10.2011

So much for it being Autumn? What a fantastic weekends weather! It screwed up my meal planning too as I couldn’t face slaving in front of the cooker for 2 hours whilst it was near enough 30C outside so we had ham salad instead. With the week turning Autumnal again this week we’ve decided to go for the following meal plan:

Monday: Cumberland Sausage, Mash and Vegetables
Tuesday: Post weigh in treat – Pepperoni Pizza (I’ve been craving this for days!)
Wednesday: Quick ready meal as I’m off to watch my hubby dance at a school charity fundraiser!
Thursday: Grilled chicken salad
Friday: Chicken stuffed with philadelphia and wrapped in bacon with potatoes and vegetables
Saturday: Spaghetti Bolognese

How does everyone plan their meals? Do you decide what nights you’re in and then plan round it or do you just use stuff up that you’ve got in the cupboards/freezer and improvise? Hubby and I need to get food shopping savvy as our grocery bills are getting so expensive. We tried to have a cheap shopping trip this week but fresh fruit and veg is so expensive. If we didn’t want to eat healthly we’d be fine buying two for ones and special offers but you never see the healthy stuff on offer do you!

Have a fab week and don’t forget to mosey on over to Mrs M’s blog for more meal planning ideas {sig}

    I try to do a bit of both, but you are right, food is so expensive. I saw on the news this morning some spokeswoman from the britsh heart foundation saying we can eat our five a day for as little as 50p per day. Yeah, right!

    I plan meals for the week and then prepare my shopping list. After a few weeks my freezer is usually groaning with leftovers so I’ll have a clear out week. I’m lucky that I have an allotment, so I’ve not had to buy vegetables for a few weeks now. It does mean my meal plans can be rather potato heavy (or full of green bean recipes…)
