Meal Planning Monday 20.02.2012

Woohoo! It’s Monday, I’m back at work, hubby is back at work and I’m so chuffed to be getting back into a routine. Jury Service and half term have really messed with my usual routine and now I’m excited to get back into a good healthy routine to see the next couple of stone shifted. As usual, meal planning is key and here’s the line up for this week’s meals.

Monday: Low Fat Sausages, Mash and Vegetables
Tuesday: Pancakes with sugar and lemon juice (& possibly chocolate Philadelphia…)
Wednesday: Battered Fish, WW chips and mushy peas (usual weekly appearance)
Thursday: Chicken cooked in new WW garlic and herb bag, potatoes and vegetables
Friday: Cajun chicken and rice
Saturday: Chicken and vegetable stir fry (Hubby is in London for the day so i’ll be eating solo)

Breakfasts will consist of Alpen Porridge (Yes, I’m still ploughing through it) and the usual mix of Granola (Jordan’s Tropical Fruit)  with WW yoghurt and selection of tinned fruit (Pear/Peaches/Mandarins).

Lunches will include ham salad on WW wraps,  zero propointed vegetable soup and pasta salads. I usually team lunch with a packet of Velvet Crunch and a piece of fruit.

I’m really hoping I can start to see a difference on the scales from now on. I really want to make good progress towards the next stone and I’m itching to buy new clothes in smaller sizes. (I wore my new*ish jeans on Friday night and they are now too big, I bought them in November for my birthday!) I’m going to resist though as it is getting quite expensive. As long as I look professional and smart for work then I’ll have to make do with my homey stuff…or i’ll just live in my pjs.

I’m hoping to get baking at the weekend and I might experiment with a few new meal ideas next week, Jen over at Suburban Mum has been cooking up Chorizo and Bean Chilli which sounds right up my street so I’m hoping to try that out and Sarah’s Spicy Mexican Chicken with rice is also high up on my shopping list for the weekend. Mealtimes don’t have to be boring do they!

Meal Planning Monday 13.02.2012

I have to admit that we haven’t actually done a meal plan for this week. It’s half term (hubby’s off for a week and I’ve got 3 days annual leave) and as we haven’t got much planned we’re kind of taking the week as it comes. We’ve got the essentials in like milk and bread and we still have fruit and yoghurt in supply from last week. We do have a freezer full of food but not necessarily food that goes together. We have things like Warburtons square wraps, fish fingers, frozen veg and frozen fruit for smoothies along with the odd 100g of pork mince and a couple of full fat sausages.

For the first time ever we have taken advantage of the Marks and Spencer’s Dine in for 2 for £20 offer for Valentines night. We’ve treated ourselves to the 3 course meal as it’s a good selection of food we wouldn’t normally eat and cheaper than going to an overpriced restaurant where we don’t feel comfortable. We’ve chosen  Gastropub Camembert With Chutney for starters, The Cook Menu Rump Steak with Peppercorn Sauce, Fresh Chips and Green Pea, Bean and Vegetable Layer for our main (we added the veg outside of the offer) and we have 2 Chocolate Melting Middle puddings for dessert. Also included in the offer is a bottle of Prestige Rosado Cava and a small box of chocolates. Sounds good doesn’t it? (Please note this isn’t a sponsored post!)

Depsite the lack of content in the cupboards my ideas for meals this week include:

- Sweet and sour chicken with rice
- Oven baked fish and chips with mushy peas
- Ready meal from freezer with additional vegetables (I’ve got a WW Chicken Casserole & hubby has a Tesco Sunday Roast special)
Chilli meatballs and rice
- Turkey, pepper and pasta bake (WW recipe)

Breakfasts will be Alpen Porridge and fruit or 30g granola with yoghurt and fruit.
Lunches will include ham salad pittas, Zero Propoint vegetable soup or vegetable risotto.

For more interesting meal plans head on over to Mrs M’s blog as our meal plans are quite boring this week. Normal service will resume next week as we’re back to normal and back to work! Hoorah!

Meal Planning Monday 06.02.2012

We may have slipped up a bit with last week’s meals. You know sometimes when you get home from a long day at work and you just can’t be bothered to cook / or what you had planned to cook just doesn’t cut it? Yep, we had a couple of those this week! Hubby really wanted Chinese Takeaway on Thursday night and who am I to argue? I had the points for a takeaway so chose wisely and had a very delicious Chicken Chow Mein. It must have been at least 2 years since I’ve had one of those and it was worth every single point.

This week we’ve got the following meals lined up:

Low fat cumberland sausages with spring onion mash
Cod with lemon & dill herb dressing with potatoes and seasonal veg
Pork chops with stilton, seasonal veg and potatoes (WW recipe in this months magazine)
Oven baked fish and chips with mushy peas (and pickled onions*) *optional
Spaghetti bolognese

For lunches this week, I’m having WW wraps with ham and lettuce or pasta salads with low fat coleslaw. I’m really looking forward to getting back into my usual work routine and using the microwave so I can take in some yummy soup to fill me up for longer.

Breakfasts this week will be the ever faithful 30g granola with a WW yoghurt with additional fruit. Absolutely loving kiwi at the moment  (my nephew who’s 3 said it looked like seaweed so wasn’t going to try it!) and tinned mandarins. Yummy!

I’ve discovered this lovely lady’s blog recently and subscribed to her posts. Every time Sarah blogs with a recipe I’m literally drooling with the thought of eating her meals. They all sound amazing and they’re healthy too! What a winner eh?

Meal Planning Monday 30.01.2012

It’s going to be a very busy couple of weeks here in the Shilts household so we’ve planned basic meals as time will be a bit of a premium.

Sunday:  Cod, potatoes and veg
Monday: Sausage and Mash
Tuesday: Supermarket made Pizza (post weigh in treat!)
Wednesday: Italian chicken and rice with veg
Thursday: Chicken and tarragon pie, potatoes and veg
Friday: Oven baked fish and chips (Fish fingers for nephew who is staying with us)
Saturday: Pork chops with dill and garlic salt, potatoes and veg

Lunch will be pasta salads or low fat chicken salad wraps
Breakfast will be Alpen Porridge (going to try the new stuff that’s been advertised, looks delicious!) or granola, yoghurt and fruit.

It’s a bit boring this week with most of the meals being very basic but they’re all WW and time friendly which is what we love when time is short. Why not head over to Mrs M’s blog for more Meal Planning Monday inspiration. Have a good week everyone

Meal Planning Monday 23.01.2012

It’s Monday, it’s a fresh week and time to get my head back into the WW plan to start losing this 3 stone I’m carrying around!

So, here at the Shilts household this week, this is what we’re having for Dinner.

Monday:  Sausage, mushroom and parsley risotto (WW recipe)
Tuesday: Oven baked fish and chips with mushy peas (post weigh in!)
Wednesday: My all time favourite – Chilli meatballs
Thursday: Something pasta related as hubby is out so I’m eating solo
Friday: Chicken Korma and Rice (WW recipe)
Saturday: Pork steaks with potatoes and vegetables

For lunches, I’m trying to eat more filling foods so have cooked up a batch of ariboro rice with a stock cube, mixed veg and bacon medallions. Trying something new to see if it works to keep me fuller for longer.

Breakfast will be porridge or granola, yoghurt and fruit.
