Why do we love Yorkshire so much?

What’s so special about Yorkshire? Could it be the friendly locals? The cosy, traditional seaside resorts? The great attractions? Personally, I think it’s all of those things. No wonder generations of visitors flock to Yorkshire year after year. My Mom was born up in Yorkshire and we have family living there now so it’s always a great place to visit and take in the rolling countryside hills and the amazing coastal views.

Family-friendly fun

Fun is at the heart of family holidays in Yorkshire and no trip is complete without a visit to Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo. Ride a white knuckle ride like Cliff Hanger, which is one of Europe’s tallest vertical drop rides, have some family fun on a family ride or take your little ones to the park’s very own zoo. From Siberian tigers to penguins, this zoo brings the exotic right to the heart of Yorkshire!

And if your family’s got a rather sweet tooth, don’t miss a trip to the John Bull World of Rock. It’s just half an hour from Reighton Sands Holiday Park and is an Aladdin’s cave of sugary treats like fudge, lollipops, handmade biscuits and rock. Visit the factory to see how rock is made and then stop off at the gift shop to purchase something sweet!

Stunning scenery

Not only do we love Yorkshire because of its great tourist attractions, visitors also return year after year to witness its stunning scenery. From rugged moorland to charming coastline, Yorkshire is all about enjoying the great outdoors. Take in the spectacular views of its rocky cliffs, go for a relaxing walk along its long stretches of white sand and finish your day off with a mouth-watering portion of fish and chips from a traditional seaside resort like Filey, which is just a stone’s throw from Primrose Valley Holiday Park.

Show your kids the beauty of nature on a trip to Flamborough. Its rugged white cliffs are a perfect location for bird watching and hiking and if your family is feeling adventurous, sea canoeing too. Pop into one of this quaint village’s traditional pubs or fish and chip shops at the end of your day.

Experience Yorkshire’s great outdoors by bike

The Tour de France will be starting in Yorkshire in 2014, so what better way to experience Yorkshire than by bike? Yorkshire is a great place to cycle whether you’re an experienced cyclist or just learning to cycle.

The Cinder Track is one of the most popular cycling route and perfect for families. It’s not far from Blue Dolphin Holiday Park Filey and runs along the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast along a disused railway line. It’s ideal for families as it’s completely traffic free and it’s easy to pick a section of the route to cycle. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could always cycle the whole thing.
