There’s no better excuse to dust off the barbeque than when the sun is shining, you’re with your nearest and dearest and you’re on holiday! On Friday night, Little Mr was guest of honour at his first family barbeque.
As part of The Charcoal Challenge from Money Supermarket, I was given £50 to host a barbeque and have a good time. Well my family and I don’t need telling twice so I gave my Dad instructions to get the barbie on and sent my Mom and Sister off on a shopping trip to fill a shopping basket full of barbeque goodies.
There were 9 of us eating in total; my Hubby and I, my Sister, Brother-in-law and Nephew, my Mom and Dad and my Nan and Grandad, so the budget was perfect.
I had visions of my Sister going off on one round the supermarket thinking she was on Supermarket sweep but she didn’t, she did well and came just under budget on food. We had lamb koftas, Aberdeen Angus beef burgers, sausages, mushrooms and black pudding (eugh!), fluffy bread rolls and jacket potatoes. There was plenty!
We even had pudding as the strawberries at the local supermarket were on special offer with free double cream, even better!
The barbeque was a huge success. My Dad even got the beers in so we all sat round the firepit catching up, having a good giggle and toasting marshmallows watching the stars appear in the night sky.
Disclaimer: Thanks to Money Supermarket for the money to host the barbeque.
