On a rollercoaster…

What a day Wednesday was? So my long awaited hospital appointment got cancelled, the Doctor is off sick! Annoyed, very but strangely pleased as I get a little longer to get my 4 stone loss in the bag and onto the next stone. Then I found out that another loan has been taken out in hubby’s name. This is the second one! I’m so annoyed. We seriously don’t know who is doing it, or how on earth they have managed to get credit without any formal ID and incorrect dates of birth. Police are involved already so just hope we can get it sorted and clear our names from these cheeky b@st*r&$ who are getting away with causing us misery!

This morning didn’t go well either as I had cancelled my annual leave and got ready for work. In the process we noticed our shower is leaking into the ceiling of our new kitchen. We are seriously hacked off with this so now the shower is out of use and we’ve got to get back to having baths. I suppose we’re lucky enough to have a separate shower and bath but all I can see with the shower is more expense.

I was cheered up at work by my friend bringing in her little boy who is 14 weeks old and an absolute angel of a baby. I love to have a munch everytime I see him and he even bought me flowers. He’s a star, totally cheered me up!

So after a crap couple of days, I’ve managed to stay on track (but have used 10 weeklies this evening) and have managed two workouts. One at the gym and one 20 minute Jillian Michael 30 day shred workout. OMG, it’s a killer! Jillian Michael is one of the trainers on The Biggest Loser USA and her dvd has been very popular all over the world. Well following various peeps on twitter and their experiences I bought a copy and started the workout this evening. You start with the beginner level doing a 20 minute workout that combines interval sessions of strength, cardio and abs, all you need is a mat and handheld weights….oh and stamina and then as the days progress, you upgrade the workout to intermediate and then onto advanced. I can’t imagine what she makes you do at advanced level, unless you’re an Olympian, you must be mad to do it! We’ll see if I can walk in the morning and then I might be tempted to do it again after work tomorrow.

I’m extremely excited about having 3 days off next week as it’s half term in the Midlands. I’ve got plans to have lunch with friends, Christmas shopping in Birmingham with hubby, a dentist appointment and possibly a new hair do! Oh, and a MEGA lie in…

#Fuff Week 5

Weight Wars

I can’t believe we’re half way through the challenge already. I know the next 5 weeks will fly by so it’s now time to refocus and get the best out of my time over the next few weeks.

What have you done this week to achieve your goals?
I’m gutted that I didn’t lose as much as I’d hoped I would this week but I guess looking back I did have obstacles in my way that didn’t help my cause. It sounds really selfish but I didn’t have enough time plan properly this week to fit in my exercise. It really does go to show that exercise and dieting go hand in hand and one without the other isn’t effective enough for me. On a positive note, I didn’t go over my points allowance and didn’t touch many of my weeklies which proves I can definitely stick to the WW plan.

What have you done to make yourself feel fabulous?
I’ve started to notice a difference in my body over the last few weeks. I’ve noticed the shape of my arms changing and that the top of my leg isn’t as fat as it used to be. I’m really loving how my body shape is changing because it really does help with my confidence. I’m hoping that by Christmas I’ll be well and truly in to the next clothes size and I can have a bit of a spending spree in the January sales for some new feel good clothes.

It’s half way through the challenge, you can change 1 or more of your goals (max of 3) if you want to….what are you going to do and why?
1. Lose at least 1.5lb per week - Amend!
2. Walk Mikey every night without fail – Amend!
3. Get on Wii Zumba at least twice a week - Amend!
4.  Try out a new low fat recipe for dinner at least once every two weeks
5. Drink at least 2 litres of water/squash per day

I’ve decided to change the above 3 targets because a) after this weeks crap weigh in I need to take the pressure off myself to lose that amount each week b) I physically don’t have enough time to get on the wii Zumba twice a week if I go to the gym or take the dog out c) The weather is turning cold and wet and even the dog wouldn’t appreciate me dragging him round the street every night getting soaked. However, I’m still going to focus on losing at least 1lb per week, getting on the wii instead of going to the gym if I need to be in at home and taking the dog out as soon as I get in from work for at least 10 minutes when it’s not torrential rain.

What’s your worst bad habit and have you ever tried to tackle it? Do you want to?
My worst habit by far is biting my nails. I’ve never had long elegant girly nails and the thought of having dirt trapped underneath them makes me feel physically sick. I’d much prefer to have them short and practical but I do need to stop biting them!

Fun Time: Would you rather have Burgers for feet or Sausages for Fingers?
Oh good question, I would prefer to have burgers for feet as I know that I couldn’t bend down far enough to eat them! Ha ha, having sausages on the end of my arms would be far too tempting. Pass the ketchup and i’d have no fingers left!

Thinking positively into Week 6, it’s all still about being in the right frame of mind..

 Have a good week everyone

Week 41: weigh in update = frustrated…

So I’ve gone from being really pleased with myself for resisting all the yummy food at the weekend and saying “no” to a pudding and really appreciative of all the lovely comments I’ve had about my recent photo to being absolutely gutted that this week I lost a measly 0.5lb. I’m 1.5lb short of my 4 stone total loss and being totally honest i’m gutted about it. I’ve got my hospital appointment on Thursday (which I know I have been harping on about for the last 6 months) and although I should be proud that I’ve lost 54.5lb since January 2011 I’m a bit annoyed with myself that I’ve not lost enough. I’m 7kg short of the target that the Doctor set me and I just wish I’d started WW sooner. I’m so frustrated with it all. But, I know there’s not much I can do about it so no point wasting energy on something I can’t change. Onwards and downwards I think is the mantra I need to remind myself of.

This week I’m going to get my bum to the gym, I’ll carry on with the walking and get shaking my booty at Zumba. I want that 4 stone goal hit next week so i’m going to pull out all the stops to make sure I get it!

Changing faces…

Mr & MrsShilts
October 2011

I posted this photo on facebook last night and a lot of my friends commented on how slim my face looks. I’m actually dead chuffed because most of the people who commented haven’t seen me (in real life) for a while so it’s good that they can see a difference.

We went out for dinner with the in-laws last night and I successfully managed to eat out at Cafe Rouge with 21 propoints to use and managed to come home with 4 unused. I’d looked at the menu before hand and planned what I was going to have within my points allowance. I had Soupe à l’Oignon (French onion soup with a melted Gruyère cheese crouton = 4 Propoints) for starters and Salade César au Poulet Grille (Crisp cos lettuce with crunchy garlic croutons and strips of chargrilled chicken breast topped with fine shavings of Grana Padano cheese served with a creamy Caesar dressing = 13 Propoints) for my mains. I declined pudding and drank diet coke. I had a fab night with my family catching up and so pleased that I didn’t spoil my dieting efforts. Just goes to show you don’t have to ruin your social life by dieting!

Cybher 2012 Sponsorship Opportunity

Have you heard about Cybher 2012? I have and it’s going to brilliant!

Cybher2012

Cybher is the first female blogging event of its kind taking place in London, UK next May 2012. The event is aimed at bloggers from all walks of life who blog about a massive range of topics including fashion, parenting and healthy living. The day will be packed with influential speakers, network opportunities and a chance for bloggers to meet similar bloggers and online friends from around the country. I would absolutely love the chance to go and therefore I’m looking for a fab company who would like to sponsor me to attend Cybher 2012. In return, I will represent your company and your brand to those at Cybher and other bloggers via my own personal blog.

MrsShilts in a nutshell…
I’m a modern woman in a modern world combining full time work in Education HR with a quest to become a yummy mummy. I’m currently dieting and have lost 54lb to date since January 2011 so spend my time cooking delicious fresh meals, exercising my butt off and spending time with my hubby and our Westie woofer. We’re hoping to start a family in the next couple of years so love interacting with other yummy mummies over on twitter and on their blogs picking up tips, advice and support. I’m also an Aunty to my 3 year old nephew so regularly look after him taking him on days out and buying him new toys. I’ve recently developed a love of clothes and shoes shopping as my clothes size has changed quite a lot. I’m really enjoying seeing my body shape change opening up new opportunities for different styles. I love getting out and about exploring the UK but if the weathers naff I’ll get out the sewing machine and make new things for the home, family or friends. Finally, I love blogging and can honestly say it has helped me change my life….for the better!

The nitty gritty…
- The cost of a blogger pass to Cybher 2012 is £80 (early bird price if purchased before end of November 2011)
- I would need to travel from Birmingham down to London for the event – return train fare to London is approximately £80.
- The cheeky bit…I would also love the opportunity to stay down there for the evening to continue with the socialising and networking opportunities so would need a place to stay for the night. Approximately £75.

What I can MrsShilts offer you?
- A very prominent space on my blog to advertise your business with logo and links
- An introductory post on my blog about your business with logo and relevant links
- Promotional posts on my blog about your business with logo and relevant links throughout 2012.
- Tweets (from @MrsShilts) about the sponsorship and any RT tweets from your company which are relevant to Cybher 2012
- Acting as your representative at Cybher 2012, wearing any branded clothing or badges supplied by you

If you are interested in sponsoring me, please email me at mrsshilts (at) gmail (dot) com and we can discuss this fabulous opportunity. I am very flexible and would love the chance to attend Cybher 2012
