Week 37 weigh in update

So pleased that weigh in shows I’ve lost 2.5lb since last Tuesday, I am so chuffed with that. So that’s only 1lb to go until I’ve lost my mahoosive holiday gain of 9lb! I’ve got 3.5lb until I fall into the next stone bracket and 1.5lb until I reach the 50lb total loss again. I’m really hoping I can have a fantastic week again and lose another good few pounds but i’m worried now the holiday weight has nearly gone, it’ll be ‘proper’ stubborn fat that i’ll be trying to shift! I’ll give it a damn good go anyway.

Looking to the week ahead, i’m home alone tomorrow night as Hubby is taking up Squash with some of his mates so I might take Mikey for a good walk and then do a 45 minute workout on the Wii. Thursday, my sister can’t make Aquafit so I might not drive the 13 mile to her town and go to Aqua on my own and do something local instead. Might possibly be another wii workout! Friday, I’m catching up with a friend straight from work then will probably take Mikey for a good walk before the night draws in. Over the weekend apart from my usual Sunday trek over the valley, i’m hoping to get some form of exercise in, might drive to the coast or even the Peak District and do something different with my Saturday.

I will at some point be trawling through 3 massive black bin bags of clothes that my Sister has given me. She had a mad clear out and has given me a load of clothes ranging from size 22 to size 16 so will have a good look to see if I can use anything. I do need a smaller pair of jeans so I wonder if she’s got any in there. The daft thing is, the clothes are practically brand new, she’s hardly worn them due to how her weightloss has dramatically changed her body shape. I’m still waiting for that to happen..lol!

Have a good week lovely peeps

Fire up for fall challenge…the beginning

I love a challenge and in my opinion there’s nothing more challenging than weightloss so when I saw the Fire up for Fall Challenge, I wanted in.  It’s run by Rebecca over on her blog and the idea is to set 5 goals to achieve over 10 weeks whilst documenting your progress as you go. So #FUFF Week One let’s go…

What are your goals for the Fall Challenge?

1. I would really love to lose at least 1.5lb per week over the next 10 weeks so that’s 15lb in total. Ideally I would love to lose more but being realistic and knowing how unreliable my weightloss can be each week I think 15lb is achievable. That would take me well into the next stone bracket.

2. Walk Mikey every night without fail (even if it is just around the block and for at least 10 minutes)

3. Get on Wii Zumba at least twice a week (one weekend day and one weekday evening)

4.  Try out a new low fat recipe for dinner at least once every two weeks

5. Drink at least 2 litres of water/squash per day

Why have you chosen those goals?

I’ve chosen 5 goals that I believe are realistic and achievable. I’m already quite good at getting my exercise quota in for the week but I’m going to try and do that little bit more to help aid my weightloss. Walking with Mikey is good for both of us and I do think it helps us bond (I know, Mikey is my Westie but he really is a good boy/listener/companion! Sad eh?) Hubby and I have recently been trying out new ideas for Dinners so we don’t get bored with our food so this will be a great goal to use all the lovely recipes sitting in the numerous WW cookbooks I’ve bought. I’ve chosen to increase my water intake as I do slip with my water intake at work. I take a small bottle of water with me to work but could do with taking a bigger bottle with me and then at least when it’s empty I know i’ve drank enough for the day.

What have you done this week that’s made you feel fabulous?

This week I’ve prepared and cooked a couple of new recipes which have turned out to be fantastic! Firstly, I cooked up a WW friendly Chicken Korma with Basmati Rice which was absolutely delicious. I think it was even better than a takeaway bought curry and hubby really liked it too so will definitely try this out again. Secondly, I’ve begun to bake Banana Loaf from a WW recipe which has turned out to be a winner. My colleagues at work have really enjoyed it and I’ve even just took a loaf out of the oven for my WW meeting tomorrow.. Go me!

What do you think will be your biggest challenge in reaching your goals?

My biggest challenge will be my birthday at the beginning of November. It’s not a special birthday but I do think you need to celebrate and treat yourself once or twice a year else life gets a bit boring. I’m hoping to go out for a lovely meal with hubby and perhaps enjoy one or two guilt free Thorntons choccies!

Fun Question..Where in  the World do you live? What’s amazing about it?
I live in the West Midlands which is slap bang in the middle of England. The good thing about being in the Midlands is that you can pretty much get to the coast (either east or west) within a couple of hours and if you want to go to a bigger city other than Birmingham, London or Manchester are only a couple of hours away by car too! Since I’ve been on my WW journey, I’ve discovered the joys of walking and there’s lots of beautiful areas near to where that we can get to within 20 minutes such as the Clent Hills, Sutton Park and Sandwell Valley.

Here’s my positive pic for the week, taken on Sunday, this is my Hubby and woofer Mikey on top of the Clent Hills looking over a very wet and breezy West Midlands…beautiful!

Meal Planning Monday 19.09.2011

Can’t quite believe it’s that time again so here it is, my menu planned out for the week. We’ll start with yesterdays meal as it was too damn delicious not to mention..

Sunday: Crispy potato and meatball pan fry taken from WW Simply Enjoy cookbook – 13 Propoints per serving (serves 2) served with cabbage

Monday: Filo turkey pie and seasonal vegetables
Tuesday: Post weigh in meal of Sausage, red onion and apple casserole (WW recipe)
Wednesday: Hungarian beef goulash (WW recipe)
Thursday: Cottage Pie (WW recipe)
Friday: Dinner for one as hubby will be out with friends – Oven baked Fish and Chips with mushy peas
Saturday: Cottage Pie and seasonal vegetables

Breakfasts will be a mixture of toasted muffin with low low cheese spread or yoghurt and fruit.
Lunch this week will either be salad with chopped turkey and low fat caesar dressing or Warburton thins sandwich with ham, lettuce and light Mayonnaise.

I’ve been snacking with fruit the past week and it’s really helped me stay on track with my points. I’m currently loving red seedless grapes, peaches, nectarines and red gala apples. Luckily, they seem to be on offer at the supermarket so thats always a bonus!

What are you eating this week? I’d love to hear from you  and don’t forget to check out the other Meal ideas on Mrs M’s blog

Time

Have you ever heard someone quote a line of widsom that stays with you for ages? I’ve heard one this week which has really got me thinking. It was from Paddy Cunningham (who was a contestant on Biggest Loser UK 2011) who I follow over on Facebook and he said this…

“No more excuses, no more self pity…if you want something to change, make it happen! YOU control your life, don’t observe life, LIVE it!”

How many times have you made an excuse for something that didn’t go your way? Or felt sorry for yourself because life’s dealt you a tough hand? I know I’ve done this many a time and where has it got me? It doesn’t help at all! If you want to change something, you’re the only one who is going to be able to do it, no matter how much support you have. I’m so glad I made the right choice back in January to get on the diet wagon and get into exercise. At first it was hard and I probably didn’t enjoy it as much as I said I did, but now I can, hand on heart say I really do.

This doesn’t just apply to my health, I’ve also being thinking about other stuff too like my career, my hobbies and my family. I guess a lot of it comes down to the fact that time is flying by and I’m going to be hitting a big birthday milestone next year and I don’t want to get there thinking I’ve wasted time. I guess that’s my inspiration to get out there and do things. Don’t get me wrong I’m being realistic as I’ll never be able to walk to the North Pole or buy a size 10 dress but being the sensible MrsShilts I am, there are things I want to do and do before it’s too late..Life is no rehearsal
