More practice..

I’ve being playing around with more designs for the Mug Rug swap again.

Tonight I’ve used the same fabric as before except for the black polka dot and came up with this…

I love this mug rug! It’s so cute and I love the colours.

Most of all though, I am so thrilled with how my binding turned out.
After my last attempt at binding went a bit pear shaped, I was really hoping to get a bit more practice.

All my corners look like this! Woohoo!

Just need practice now on the actual stitching part when attaching the binding on the underside…
I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, practice makes perfect

TFI Friday..

I am so glad it’s Friday which means one thing; it’s the weekend…woohoo!

Here are my 3 reasons to be cheerful;

Reasons to be Cheerful at Mummy From the Heart

1. I don’t know about you but i’m so glad it’s Friday! It seems to have been a really long week but luckily I’ve now got 2 whole days and 3 whole nights to chill and sew before going back to work.

2. The weather in the UK at the moment is flipping chilly but it is perfect dog walking weather. It’s cold, crisp and bright (yes, the sun has made an appearance) so it’s lovely to wrap up warm and get outdoors enjoying the fresh air and getting the much needed exercise. Tomorrow i’m planning a big long walk with hubby, our woofer and our nephew over Cannock Chase. The weather is ‘supposed’ to be lovely so we’re going to take this opportunity to get outside and spend some family time together.

3. I took our woofer to the Vets this evening as he’s got a terrible skin condition (Westie’s are prone to them!) on his chin which he keeps scratching and making it bleed. Luckily as we’re in the Pet Health Scheme with our vets the course of treatment only cost £15 me instead of £50! And for that, at this time of the month I am very grateful!

These are my 3 reasons to be cheerful today, head over to Mummy From The Heart‘s blog for more feel good factor reasons

Craft Giveaway..

I’m having a clearout and need your help!
How do you fancy winning all of these lovely goodies below?

As my interest in sewing and quilting grows I’m using up more and more of my dining room and am struggling for space! So, over the next few weeks i’ll be having various craft giveaways helping to clear more space for my ever growing stash of yummy fabrics.

To kick off, I’m giving away a huge selection of embellishments as shown;

Included are embellishments perfect for adorning cards, invites, scrapbooks and
ideal for birthdays, weddings, new babies and parties.

All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is leave a comment on this post telling me what you
would do with the goodies. It’s as simple as that.

I’ll pick a winner next Friday 4th February using a random number generator and the
winner will be announced next Friday evening.

Good Luck

Disappointed…

I am so disappointed. I stayed the same weight this week at weigh in. It’s even made me cry I want it so much but unless you’re overweight and desperate to lose weight I guess you won’t understand why! I need to lose 68lb (31kg) by October 2011 (medical reasons) and I want it so bad I’m doing everything I can to try and get there…Am I though? Am I getting up at the crack of dawn to take the dog for a walk? Am I coming home from work and getting on the wii for an hour before dinner? Am I increasing the levels of exercise I’m doing? Well the simple answer to all of those questions is a big fat NO I’m not! I think me and the Wii are going to be getting rather acquainted this week, I must try harder. I do not want to feel like a complete failure for another week when I’ve been so good with what I’ve eaten and drunk.

So week three:2011 done: total loss 6lb, in my fourth week I’m going to get the Wii out and get out of the house for a long (back to nature) walk with the dog every other day for at least an hour and a half.

Hope you’ve all had a good weigh-in and here’s to week four:2011!

I need practice…

with making these Mug Rugs! I thought I’d have a go tonight at making my first Mug Rug for the swap. I selected the fabrics and after tweeting whether or not I should use them or not, I decided to go ahead. I love the ladies on twitter for their honest opinions!

So, after cutting, sewing, ironing, sandwiching (lol, I don’t know the official term),
quilting and binding, I came up with this;

So there we have it, my first ever go at a Mug Rug and despite the dodgy corner (please don’t look too closely!)
I think it’s pretty damn good!

Just deciding now whether to keep it for myself and make better ones for the swap knowing how
long it took me and where I made a few mistakes! I’m seriously getting addicted to this quilting lark…
