Cushion love..

I showed my friends on facebook, twitter and at work my cushion that I made (as shown in my last post) and I had several ladies saying that they would love to buy a handmade cushion or quilt from me…so obviously this has got me thinking…. The fabric I used was quite expensive as it was Cath Kidston fabric and worked out at about £18 all in…Do you think that £25 per cushion is a bit too much to pay? Personally I think it is but would need to make some sort of profit from them in order to cover all my costs (electric and materials etc)..What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear from you

First flutter of creativity…

Look what I made….

I am so impressed with myself! This is the first thing i’ve ever made on my own sewing machine without the help from anyone. I know its only a cushion but it might just be the start of a very beautiful hobby…

World Cup misery…

Yep, I saw the England versus Germany game on Sunday and it was terrible. The England team didn’t play with those 3 lions on their shirts, they played thinking of their Premier League pay packets and glossy magazine photo shoots. Role models, I think not!

This week has been quite eventful. We’ve had Ofsted in at work (which i’m pleased to say went really well!), I’ve been to the doctors about my pain in my lower stomach (GP has mentioned ovarian cysts due to my absent monthlies and i’m a bit scared!), I’ve had my nephew stay over for the weekend and hubby and I have decided to stay put in our house. We’ve had to face facts and the harsh reality that we can’t afford to move house. Our lovely 2 bedroomed terraced house is big enough for the both of us and woofer, it just needs a bit more work (new kitchen, revamped gardens, paint job in hallway and bathroom and a good sort out). I’m actually quite looking forward to the projects i’ve got lined up. I just need some free weekends and some spare cash….

Following my journey around the bloggersphere, I came across a few blogs which really inspired me to get a bit more creative. Well, at the inlaws bbq last weekend I mentioned to my mum that I was thinking about getting a sewing machine and she disappeared off upstairs and came back with a sewing machine. It was her mums and when she passed away she didnt want to throw it away. I am so pleased I’ve been given the chance to use it and creative some fabulous things on it. So, if anyone has any links to fabulous sewing patterns and the like I would be very interested to hear them…

Very last minute entry..

For The Gallery topic of Motherhood

This is my sister and her son Kye.

I am incredibly proud of my sister, she is a fantastic mum and I hope that one day I will be half as good a mum as her.

My sis is a hard working mum, she works incredibly long hours just to be able to give her little family the best that they can afford. It’s not been easy (as you will know recently if you’ve read my previous posts) but she does the absolute best she can and little man Kye is an absolute cracker. They’ve mastered bath times, potty training and sleeping in a big boy bed and he’s still only 25 months old. The next 25 months are probably going to be equally as tough (yeh thanks Mr Cameron!) but I know that all my nephew needs is his Mum, his Dad and a whole lotta’ love so I know that they’re going to be absolutely fine…

I heart my pet..

This is my entry to this weeks The Gallery topic – Creatures

This is my adorable, fluffy white pet dog Mikey aka bubba, spikey and woofer. Photo taken this evening at the top of the stairs trying to avoid bedtime. We’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old and he was hubby and I’s first pet together. That was 5 years ago and they’ve been eventful. We’ve had gravel eating trauma, 2 minor operations, a new carpet and kitchen flooring, sleepless nights (both me and the dog) countless fun filled days out and quite possibly, one or two thousand pounds worth of pet food, toys and vet bills but you know what, I wouldn’t change him for the world. Mikey is my baby, I love him and don’t know what I’d do without him
