Pass the parcel…

As mentioned in my last post, on Saturday I received my Secretpostclub parcel for May and I wasn’t disappointed. My parcel was wrapped up in very trendy stripey tissue paper and I received a lovely handmade scarf by the very clever Sara. Thank you Sara its gorgeous, you are very clever!

Since joining the secretpostclub i’ve received two parcels that included handmade gifts and I am inspired to get crafting again. I’ve always been a little bit crafty as my mum is a self taught seamstress and often let me and my sister ‘have a go’ on her sewing machine. Although I never really made much on it apart from the odd cushion or two (as I was too worried I was going to break it) I would like to try my hand at the machine again. Mum makes allsorts for family and friends, she even made my wedding dress and 8 bridesmaids dresses. I got into card making when I was planning my wedding and I made all my own wedding stationery including invites, menus, place cards and thank yous. I love to do cross stitch and have made many cross stitch gifts over the years and plan to do many more. I need to ‘unpack’ all my cardmaking pieces as I had to put them away when I was in my last year of uni, something had to give and it was my crafting! But thanks to Sara and Sarah I think I may have the bug again..

Just a quickie…

I’m taking full advantage of being a passenger in the car on the M6 heading north…I’m twittering, facebooking and blogging away! Well I’m going to try to blog remotely..how techno of me! Anyways, this morning I received my parcel from a secretpostclub member. Won’t go into it much in this post as will dedicate a complete post to it when I get home full with hyperlinkies and piccies but it was a gorgeous scarf made by the lovely @jombolom! Very pleased.. I really hope the recipient of my gift likes hers this month but by secretly visiting her blog/twitter I think she’s away for the weekend. I had to cheat this month and send a parcel and card seperately as with all the family events happening time has been a bit sparse! Really looking forward to meeting my new cousin today, Baby T is going to be so small I’m really looking forward to a cuddle :) have a good one peeps

Miserable cow!

I’m very sorry to anyone who has read my posts of late….what a miserable cow i’ve been! I’m glad to say that normal service has been resumed and i’m not on cloud misery anymore. So what has changed to make me feel totally different? Well, of course, you’ve guessed it…my period showed up and now  I seem to be fine! I’m really struggling with them, my last cycle was 44 days long when previously they’ve only EVER been 30/32 days long so my hormones were completely all over the place.

Anyways, went to weigh in and I put on 1lb which I think is fantastic considering its time of the month. Usually at this time, I put on about 5lb in water retention so only 1lb is brilliant! Wont be weighing in next week as i’m in the big smoke on a course and we’re travelling First Class! I’m very excited, can you tell? Its the first time ever that any employer of mine has spent a lot of money on a course for me. It’s all about Employment Law in schools so it should be quite good.

This weekend we’re off to see family up north near Burnley. To cut a very long story small my cousin and his wife have had a baby (premature by 8 weeks) and my poor cousin’s wife is in critical care with pancreatis(!) We’re going up to help my cousin with boring stuff like cooking and cleaning so he can look after Baby T and catch up on some well earned sleep. It’s definately at times like this when you can count on your family so if we can help, we’re happy too.

Fresh air…

Don’t you just love it! We’ve had a lovely weekend out in the countryside sleeping under the stars in our ma-hoosive tent. We arrived at the campsite near Kingsbury Water Park early Friday evening and had to beat the rain to pitch the tent. 2 hours later we had finished setting up and the heavens opened. Luckily the rain proved to us that our tent is water tight! Hoorah! The rain didn’t stop at all on Saturday so whilst hubby was at the football and brother in law was catching up on his sleep, me and my sister watched a film on the dvd player. Oh yes, we go glamping not camping…ha ha..we even have carpet in our tent! We didn’t manage to do much walking on Saturday as the weather was totally crap, cold and wet and when you’ve only got jeans walking in fields, mud and the rain ain’t much fun. Luckily the weather on Sunday was lovely and the sun was shining so was able to dry off the tent and we all managed to get lots of fresh air. We’ve got about 8 weeks until we go away again so i’m looking forward to it already.

I’m still feeling fed up, I dont know why! I’m in a vicious cycle of feeling crap, eating shite and then feeling guilty about it then repeating the whole cycle again. I am annoying myself feeling like this so god knows what you lovely lot must think! I’ve read somewhere tonight that to make or break a habit you must persevere with something for 21 days. So, I’m going to aim to do some form of exercise for at least 21 days. I’m hoping to get out of the office and get walking. I need to.

Fed up!

I don’t know what’s wrong with me at the moment…I’m well and truly fed up. I think it’s got quite a lot to do with how I feel about myself. I saw a photo of myself today taken just a few days ago at my Nephews 2nd birthday party and I honestly thought I looked ok. The photo was horrible! My hair just doesnt seem to suit me, my double chin is more like double chins and I just look horribly fat! I’m really not impressed. In fact, I could cry! I didn’t get to weigh in last night as I spent the night with my family playing with the birthday boys pressies and I was so hungry that I had to tuck in to the spread that my sister had put on for us. I did have a big bowl full of salad but didnt say no to a small slice of chocolate gateau! Ooopps..

Think I need to re-evaluate my life..I’m still ‘struggling’ with life after uni, I know that sounds mad and quite pathetic but I really don’t know what to do with myself. I’m having an identity crisis! Who am I? What do I enjoy doing? What should replace the gap that my studies used to fill? In an ideal world I’d fill the gap with starting a family and whilst I’d love to do that I’m seriously worried that my weight is playing a bit part in this dream not becoming a reality. I need to stop wallowing and get off my arse and so something about it. I’m going to ring up the gym and enquire about their classes. I’d like to join a class that will get my heart rate going so that i’ll be totally knackered when I get out but is something that I will enjoy doing. Many moons ago I used to do circuit training which was a proper killer but it had the desired effect..I was pooped after an hour of that! I’m also going to get my crafting stuff out again and have a play around with carding. I’ve also got a couple of cross stitches that I want to get finished and I’d also like to be a bit more houseproud. Don’t get me wrong we don’t live like pigs and our house definately wouldn’t feature on ‘How Clean Is Your House?’ but when I get a bit stressed out and tired I always notice bits of housework that need to be done immediately such as the crumbs on the kitchen floor and the dirty paw prints from the dog on the laminate in the hall. I want to paint the hallway a nice fresh neutral shade, the bathroom in bright white and the odd spare bedroom wall (which is currently blue) cream again this Summer. Ideally I’d like to keep our house a bit of a blank canvas with colourful accessories in every room so that when we decide to sell up (which maybe in the next couple of years) there’s not too much to do to sell the house.

As if you haven’t heard tonight is Election night. I did my bit and voted. Of course I’m not going to bore you with my political choice but I voted and as my mum used to tell me, if you don’t vote you dont get a say in how the country should be run! I don’t think for one minute that my vote will make a difference but you have to be in it to win it don’t you?

Looking forward to the weekend, we’re off camping with the dog in tow! This will be Mikey’s first ever camping trip and it may well be the last if he doesn’t behave himself. He’s a bugger for barking at the slightest thing so we’re hoping with enough walkies he’ll be knackered and will sleep like a baby. Fingers crossed the weather wont be too cack, I’ve heard its going to rain but as long as it only rains over night we’ll be ok!

Anyway, sorry for whinging post, just getting it off my chest! Have a fab weekend everyone
